NYC-based indie rock sextet White Rabbits are slated to headline.

Local singer-songwriter Angela Correa's band Correatown has held this month's Monday residency at The Echo, and tonight is their final show before embarking next month on a European tour. While this gallery features photos taken during their soundcheck with Eagle & Talon and The Voyeurs, see photos from the actual show at Web In Front.

And, lastly, Scottish rock act Frightened Rabbit will be performing with fellow Scots the Twilight Sad and We Were Promised Jetpacks. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock to catch Washington-bred lo-fi folk maestro Mount Eerie.

And, lastly, LAist favorites Whispertown 2000 (LAist Review, #2) will be headlining the Echo with none other than local brother and sister duo the Belle Brigade. As you may have heard, the 29th annual Sunset Junction Street Festival is this weekend. "I've only attended the last three years, and never knew the festival back in [its] free days," says Brad Roberts from Radio Free Silver Lake. "So, frankly, the cost isn't as much of an issue for me as it is for others. The days of expecting a bankrupt state and federal government to provide something as ephemeral as a music festival, are, unfortunately, relics of the past. I have thoroughly enjoyed myself at the last three, all of which introduced me to many of the local bands who are regular favorites of mine. The cultural mix is a Los Angeles specialty and in spite of occasionally resembling a frying pan, everyone seems to really enjoy themselves, the variety of food available is impressive and the atmosphere remains laid back and So Cal."

It may be months late, but Little Radio's weekly Summer Camp series finally returns on Sunday, August 16th, with performances by The Living Things, Har Mar Superstar, and Restavrant as well as DJ sets by Ana Calderon, Daisy O'Dell, and Clifton Weaver. Summer Camp runs every Sunday thereafter until September 20th. "That's three Sundays in August, then 3 more in September," according to Little Radio. "Let's just call it September Camp. New location, new pool, new turf. Same water slide and shennanigans!"

Local indie rockers Anglos will be ringing in their debut EP at El Cid with Go West Young Man. But we strongly suggest heading over to Largo at the Coronet. Not only will recently-reunited Jayhawks' front men Mark Olson and Gary Louris be gracing the main room with Teddy Thompson, but Boston-based ex-Candy Butcher front man Mike Viola will be playing in the Little Room.

New Year's Eve was a raucous, booze-filled celebration at Spaceland (MySpace) in Silver Lake, with triple headliners The Happy Hollows (MySpace), The Pity Party (MySpace), and The Henry Clay People (MySpace) -- all of whom have been previously mentioned here -- kicking off 2009 with a show that will undoubtedly wind up on many "Best Of" lists at the end of this year.

As mentioned yesterday, earlier this month was the 2nd Annual Christmas Sweater Festival took place at The Echoplex (MySpace). The fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting Doctors Without Borders, featured a stellar lineup of rising stars from the local indie scene, including Amnion (MySpace), Castledoor (MySpace), The Pity Party (MySpace), The Deadly Syndrome (MySpace), The Happy Hollows (MySpace), and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros (MySpace). It notably attracted two of the most prominent local scenester photographers, Ellei "Shadowscene" Johndro (MySpace) and Mark "The Cobrasnake" Hunter.

Talk about a show explosion! Tonight Madonna will be entertaining the masses at Dodger Stadium. NY-based rock band Coheed and Cambria (LAist Review) will begin a series of shows at the Avalon in which they play each of their four albums in their entirety—tonight they'll be revisiting 2002's The Second Stage Turbine Blade. Local blues-rock band Rumspringa (LAist Review) will be playing at the Viper Room for the Day of the Living Party. And just about every music blogger and their mother will be in attendance at 3 of Clubs tonight, where SF natives Birds & Batteries and the Blacks will be performing. But the real tough choice of the night is between the Happy Hollows' (LAist Review, #2) EP Release Event at the Echo and TV on the Radio (LAist Review) at the Wiltern. The former certainly affords a bevy of superb lesser-known acts, like LBC's the Soft Hands and our personal favorite, Austin-by-way-of-Dallas the Strange Boys (LAist Review, #2). However, we can't deny the latter's latest effort, 2008's Dear Science. So head on over to the Wiltern to catch the buzzworthy Brooklyn-based indie rock quintet.

Tonight LA will face a glut of shows. We've got the GuerilLA Fest, which is essentially a renegade traveling circus of sorts. Six bands, including LAist favorites the Happy Hollows (LAist Review), will form a caravan, traveling around the city and playing succinct sets at six different public locales. New Orleans-by-way-of-Chicago Telefon Tel Aviv will be demonstrating their electronic mastery at the Avalon with Detroit-based, dance floor-oriented singer-songwriter Matthew Dear. If you're into archetypal metal, or Guitar Hero for that matter, then Austin-based the Sword will be performing at the Henry Fonda Music Box. Tonight will also mark the final show of Richmond-based Denali's reunion tour. The girl-fronted indie rock act will be performing—original lineup and all—at the Echoplex. It will surely be a night to remember! And, lastly, Kentucky's own troubadours These United States will grace the rather schlocky Cocaine at Live Jazz. But, all in all, the Barack Obama benefit show at the Smell seems to be most promising. LA locals the Mae Shi (LAist Interview) will be rocking out for the cause, along with Bad Dudes and a slew of other experimental rock bands.

There are far too many shows to tend to tonight. First and foremost, experimental musician/producer extraordinaire David Byrne and Brian Eno will be performing together at the Greek Theatre in support of their first collaboration in nearly 30 years, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. LA locals No Age are slated to tear your ear drums apart at the dingy confines of the Smell. But why see them tonight when you can see them in exciting makeshift venues like the LA River or the Downtown Public Library? Devon Williams, yet another great LA-based musician, will be stopping by Echo Park's egalitarian start-up Echo Curio. The rather palatial Wiltern will be hosting the return of Portland legends the Dandy Warhols. Oddly enough, Brooklyn-based noise rockers A Place To Bury Strangers are set to kick things in motion. Our only recommendation is to make sure you bring ear plugs! And lastly, speaking of noise, we've got Deerhoof at the Avalon with local favorites the Happy Hollows. But we heavily endorse plopping down at Spaceland to enjoy your Friday night. The Henry Clay People will be ringing in their latest effort, For Cheap Or For Free, with an impressive bill of bands, including two of our favorite LA acts: the Parson Red Heads and Le Switch. It'll surely be all things to all people.

Last month, Joe Fielder, whose local music blog Radio Free Silver Lake has been in existence since February 2006, celebrated the second anniversary of his monthly Let's Independent! event, at Boardner's (MySpace) in Hollywood, with performances by Death to Anders (MySpace), The Savages (MySpace), and Xu Xu Fang (MySpace).

Yesterday, Little Radio's Summer Camp series Downtown continued with performances by New York-based Paul Dillon (MySpace) from Silver Rockets (MySpace), as well as local bands The Damselles and The TC4 (MySpace), Speedbuggy (MySpace), and The Happy Hollows (MySpace).

Last night, the frontpeople for five of the best bands in the local indie music scene, Evan Way from The Parson Redheads (MySpace), Sarah Negahdari from The Happy Hollows (MySpace), Timothy James from The Movies (MySpace), Andrew Spitser from Radars To The Sky (MySpace), and Mikel Jollett from The Airborne Toxic Event (MySpace), participated in the inaugural edition of My Little Underground at Bordello (MySpace) in Downtown LA.

Last month, local band The Airborne Toxic Event (MySpace) returned to Spaceland (MySpace) in Silver Lake to headline a show that included The Deadly Syndrome (MySpace), and The Henry Clay People (MySpace) with support from I Make This Sound (MySpace) and Le Switch (MySpace). As aptly described by Mouse from Classical Geek Theatre, "Before a mixed-crowd of longtime fans and recent, true-believing converts, The Airborne Toxic Event rewarded ticket holders with a near flawless-set that could have just as easily been played at The Hollywood Bowl, The Kodak Theatre, or Coachella. There was no melodrama, very little hype, and nobody on stage had to prove anything. It was just the band and their songs; naked, raw, hard-boiled."

Yesterday, Little Radio's Summer Camp series Downtown continued with performances from local bands The Parson Redheads (MySpace), The Henry Clay People (MySpace), and Film School (MySpace).

Last Friday, local band The Movies (MySpace) at Spaceland (MySpace) in Silver Lake as part of The Parson Redheads' (MySpace) EP release show.

Nobody better covers the LA indie music scene than the local blogs, which include LA-Underground, Radio Free Silver Lake, Rock Insider, You Set The Scene, Squaregirls, Aquarium Drunkard, Classical Geek Theatre, Amateur Chemist, and the now-defunct Buzz Bands. Besides spotlighting up-and-coming artists and posting concert photos, many of those blogs regularly present shows -- Radio Free Silverlake's Let's Independent! have included The Happy Hollows (MySpace), The Deadly Syndrome (MySpace), Castledoor (MySpace), and Everest (MySpace).

Speaking of local rock duos (and also tonight), The Pity Party (MySpace), who were interviewed here at LAist earlier this month, conclude their February residency at Spaceland (MySpace) in Silver Lake.
