Giants 4, Dodgers 2 - Maybe it's better this way. If Barry had tied (or passed) Hank Aaron in Chavez Ravine, it would have been the second time the Dodgers gave up the record breaking shot (yup, Hammerin' Hank hit 715 against the Boys in Blue). The Dodgers won their 11th straight game at Pac Bell/SBC/AT&T Park yesterday. The Giants were held to 11 runs during this weekend's series (compare this to the Dodgers' 22 runs - or should we say 11*2?). Brett Tomko's ERA is no longer as close to 11 as it was prior to the game (and it was getting there...). I spent 11 hours in the car this weekend driving back and forth from SF and now hold hour long conversations with myself. Oh and Malingering has 11 letters. So does "coincidence."

Lakers 95, Suns 89 - After getting smacked around in the first two games of the series, the Lakers were looking up at a 17 point Phoenix lead in game three. Then something snapped. Kobe went on a 45 point rampage and -- surprise! -- Kwame Brown had 19. Lamar Odom had 18, but more important were his 16 rebounds (6 on the offensive glass). Suns 126, Lakers 98 - Phoenix had lost game two in each of their past five playoff series. Not this time. The Suns burnt the Lakers so badly that Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire both sat out the entire fourth quarter and each only saw 24 minutes of action. My Boyfriend was at it again. He hit is first career grand slam Saturday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Not only was it merely a grand slam, he hit it in the bottom of the tenth tied 3-3. After last night’s 4-0 loss to the Padres, the Dodgers have turned a 6-game lead on September 11, to one-half game lead today. The Giants winning 9 of their last 10 hasn’t helped, but we are steamed that Jim Tracy’s bunch seems to find a way to blow it down the stretch.
