The Edison's New Cocktail Menu Debuts Tomorrow
Don't count Joseph Brooke, The Edison's director of spirits, out just yet, L.A. drinkers. After about a year, he's come up with a new list of cocktails for the swanky downtown bar. What took so long? The current renovation of Clifton's Cafeteria delayed any go-ahead for a new cocktail menu from the Edison's powers that be. But this week, Brooke debuts his brand-new menu which is "classically driven" and at the same time offers an entry-level option into the world of mixology for the usual Red Bull-vodka Edison clientele.

On This Day...
I am thankful for… Thanksgiving - even though I think it’s a stupid holiday, and I pretty much hate all the food associated with it - for giving me the opportunity to spend the day with family that I love and actually enjoy being around. I am thankful every day that I am able to make a living being creative and doing something I love. (Except for when I’m on strike) I am thankful...
A DWP Crisis?
Usually we hear doubting and negative comments about city offices such as the Department of Transportation (DOT) or Neighborhood Empowerment (DONE). But the Department of Water & Power (DWP) somehow skids by the public and never become a hot button issue. That is, of course, until the day after the crisis strikes. What? You don't pick up hot dates by dropping some IBEW regs? The closest electrical power will ever come close to being...
LAist Asks: The Way We Dress for the Philharmonic
Compare the way people dress at the LA Phil (not including Hollywood Bowl) to the New York Philharmonic and you'll find some New Yorkers shocked at our fine evening wear for classical music. That is to say, we prefer our California lackadaisical manner of dress. Go to the LA Phil and you'll see the occasional couple with style, but mostly you'll see lots in jeans and other street-wear. It seems Casual Fridays at the...
New Player In Town - The Edison
When exactly The Edison started their soft opening, we don't know - what we do know is that we've haven't seen a bar like this in Los Angeles, well, ever. In major East Coast cities this is a trend we've seen before - taking over an old space be it a bank vault or power plant and making it a lounge, but this is the first we've seen in Los Angeles and it's guaranteed to be the talk of the town. When we made it down to the new hotspot Saturday night at 11:30, there was a massive line outside. We sweet-talked our way inside, capacity at this venue is 400 people afterall, so plenty of room for everyone but once inside we heard the line was moving fast and, gasp, the door guys weren't half bad.
