Tonight LA's own all-girl rock troupe the Donnas (LAist Review, #2) will be performing at the House of Blues Sunset. The hole-and-corner Pehrspace is slated to play host to a Post Christmas Caroling Party. For those who joined us last night (thank you for coming!), we witnessed many hot and bothered moments with an excellent band we've never hard before -- The Makers (we can't find their website, help). They are in residency at Seven Grand every Tuesday and we highly recommend checking them out. There are usually only two things to talk about at the Sundance Film Festival: the movies and the parties. Last night was unique, though, because everybody was talking about...the blackout! That's right. Around 9:30 last night the whole town just went completely dark for at least half on hour. Periodic blackouts continued for the next hour or so before everything finally returned to normal. It was a surreal scene. Thousands of people were just standing out in the cold on Main Street in utter darkness. more ›

All this dampness around town lately has us fighting the sniffles and feeling like blankets and hot toddies are the best way to spend days so we didn't get to do half of what we wanted to this weekend like making it to the opening reception of the Keep A Breast art exhibit and auction at The Lab 101 gallery. The auction is a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Youth Awareness program and features some very interesting casts of interesting breasts of interesting people from both California and NY. We're especially fond of Caia Koopman's art over The Donnas' Maya Ford's chest but check the rest of them out.
