If you were fortunate enough to have caught one (or both!) nights of The New Pornographers, on tour with The Dodos and Imaad Wasif, you were treated to an eclectic evening of beautiful music that had fans singing along to every song. We're hoping more headlining bands pick their accompanying acts as carefully as The New Pornographers did, allowing music-goers to arrive early and stay late. Tonight local indie rock buzz band Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros' (LAist Review) will be performing at the Abbot Kinney Music Festival with Eskimo Hunter, the Parson Red Heads (LAist Review, #2, #3) , Chief and Dios (Malos) (LAist Interview, Review). San Francisco-based psych-folk-pop act the Dodos are poised to headline the El Rey Theatre with Auckland's own indie pop outfit the Ruby Suns and London-bred experimental post-rock collective Sian Alice Group in tow. And, lastly, Sacramento-based dance-infused punk act Chk Chk Chk (!!!) will be headlining the Troubadour with none other than Houston-based psych-infused noise anomaly Indian Jewelry. Tonight HARD Summer, a massive multi-stage festival boasting a bevy of prominent electronic acts like Underworld, Chromeo, Crookers, Tiga, SebastiAn, the Bloody Beetroots and many more, will be taking place at the Forum. This year's Rock the Bells, which features the likes of Nas, Damian Marley, Ice Cube, The Roots, Common, Busta Rhymes, RZA, GZA, Raekwon, Slum Village, the Knux (LAist Interview) and many more, is set to take place at San Manuel Amphiteatre. Local producer/musician extraordinaire Jon Brion (LAist Interview, #2, Review) will be jamming at Largo at the Coronet with none other than Wilco guitarist Nels Cline (LAist Interview). And, lastly, Bergen-based experimental indie pop outfit Casiokids will be performing at Spaceland with the Wave Pictures and Slow Club in tow. Tonight In Rock: The Who, Van Morrison, Coheed And Cambria, The Dodos

Tonight legendary English rock band the Who will be stopping through the Nokia Theatre. Van the Man will be performing 1968's Astral Weeks in its entirety at the Hollywood Bowl once more. And, of course, Coheed and Cambria will be plowing through the third night of a series of shows at the Avalon in which they perform their catalog in its entirety—tonight they'll be revisiting 2005's Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness. SF-based buzz band the Dodos will be playing at the Echoplex with local blues-rock duo Restavrant. Lastly, LA-by-way-of-DC psych-rockers Dead Meadow will be checking into the Troubadour for a night of hazy riffs. But we strongly suggest heading over to Spaceland to see Portland-based Starfucker (LAist Review).
