LAist Film Calendar: Feel Good, Goodfella!
Summer's almost over, but between political anxiety, family obligations & working my ass off, I feel like it never even started. The Feel Good Film Festival, running Thursday - Sunday at the Egyptian, couldn't have come at a better time. Celebrating "films with happy endings, that make audiences laugh, and that capture the beauty of our world", the line-up includes stand-up comics, unlikely cupids, claymation penguins, puppets waxing on philosophy (and candy!), the original surfer girl, and the premiere of Herpes Boy, adapted from the truly viral web comedy series.

Haven't been to the cemetery in forever? There's two prime opportunities this weekend, courtesy of Cinespia's latest season of "drive-in" (sit-in?) screenings at Hollywood Forever. Saturday brings super-dead superstars Cary Grant & Grace Kelly in Alfred Hitchcock's masterful heist mystery To Catch A Thief. Sunday hosts super-living unsuper-stars Ben Affleck & Matthew McConaughey in Richard Linklater's beloved period piece Dazed and Confused. Keep the drive-in dream alive all weekend - Friday, the all-American classic, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, plays the Steve Allen parking lot, joined by special guest Tobe Hooper (maybe he'll sign my bloody Leatherface doll-erm, "collectible"). If chainsaws & cemeteries are a bit creepy, bask in the cherubic glow of Matthew Broderick & roller derby girls at the Angel City Drive-In's screening of Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Bring your own backseat.

He pulls Will Ferrell in for a long, shameless lip-lock that leaves them both rolling on the floor like fictional teenagers in a...

“Dancing With the Stars” (ABC, 8:00 p.m.) Really, is this worth watching anymore without Springer on it? We're hoping for some kind of graphic dance-floor accident, or perhaps a Carrie-at-the-senior-prom reenactment. “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (NBC, 9:00 p.m.) Liza Minelli makes a cameo appearance in this Halloween-tinged episode. “Veronica Mars” (the CW, 9:00 p.m.) The underground campus casino is robbed in this Halloween-tainted episode. “Frontline/World” (PBS, 9:00 p.m.) The Burmese government conducts a...
