While protests today in Pasadena and Burbank had lackluster turnout and definitely no one dressed like George Washington, in Orange County several Tax Day Tea Party Patriots rallies drew crowds of hundreds. In Irvine, an estimated 400 attendees "gathered for speeches given from a stage lined with portraits of early Americans," according to the OC Register. Among the speakers were GOP Assemblyman Chuck DeVore who is aiming to take Democrat Barbara Boxer's Senate seat in the upcoming election.
Handful of Tea Party Patriots Show Up to Protest on Tax Day in Pasadena & Burbank
All across the country today, Tax Day, members of groups affiliated with the Tea Party Patriots are holding rallies in their communities to spotlight their dismay at the role of government and their level of taxation. Two such rallies took place early this afternoon in Pasadena and in Burbank, with a small turnout at each location composed of predominantly older, white protesters bearing handmade signs and waving flags.

As President Barack Obama announced plans to overhaul the tax code in order to make it a simpler process to deal with, protests spread across the country today with anti-tax tea parties of sorts. A few hundred reportedly protested in Glendale this afternoon and more events are planned for the Santa Monica Pier and the Van Nuys Civic Center. Down in Orange County, around 1,000 people are protesting outside a courthouse in Santa Ana.
