Alternative 9/11 Plans: Head to the Hollywood Bowl to See The National, Neko Case, and Sharon Van Etten

Without a doubt, Sunday September 11th is going to be a day where most of the nation's attention is focused on remembering the tragedy of ten years ago. While there are several local events planned to mark the somber anniversary, the show must--and will--go on for Angelenos. Few things exemplify summer in L.A. like an evening at the Hollywood Bowl, so that's where we're headed Sunday night. more ›

The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards take place Sunday but before you start placing bets on whether Britney Spears will show up or who Kanye might diss, the Recording Academy has a week full of affiliated red carpet events, many open to the public, and some that may turn out to be too good for network TV. more ›

While the drumset-free, accordion-rich stage setup might have looked a little odd, there was no mistaking who the dude at the mic was. more ›

Tonight In Rock: Chris Cornell, T-Bone Burnett, Joe Lally, Maria Taylor

But we strongly suggest heading over to the Troubadour to catch Birmingham-bred folk songstress Maria Taylor (LAist Interview). LAist favorites Whispertown 2000 (LAist Interview, Review, #2) are slated to kick things off. more ›
