Is GTL on its way to losing a letter? 12 states in the U.S., including California, have bills pending to restrict the use of commercial tanning salons, reports the Huffington Post. In England and Wales, the use of tanning booths for those under 18-years-old is outright banned, and enforced with a fine up to $32,000, notes ABC News .
GTL Minus The T? California's Pending Tanning Bed Bill
Sun Shy, But Tan-Thusiastic? Get Ready to Pay the Tax!
You can get your tan outside for free, and for a pretty hefty portion of the year here in sunny Southern California, but of course that comes with the risk of skin cancer and other health and wellness repercussions. But for those who think it's worth it to shell out the bucks for the fake thing, get ready to pay even more for your tanning bed-down. "Beginning July 1, tanning parlors will have to charge customers a 10% tax for indoor tanning services," cautions the OC Register. The IRS has the details about the new regulation here. It's bottom line meets tan lines from now on.
Bowled Over
You saw that right, except for the date: It's Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl IV, airing all day Super Bowl Sunday. Not only is this a fun idea on their part (why subject your shows to poor overall ratings?), it's mesmerisingly watchable and a great way to keep the kids and pets occupied and away from your guests and food. Or maybe you're not (gasp) a football fan and just want to veg out? I wouldn't be surprised if Puppy Bowl had their own, Teletubby-like following among the tripping set. And yes, there is a "Kitty Halftime Show."
