A homeless man suspected of setting off a homemade bomb next to the Chabad House in Santa Monica last week was arrested late Monday when he was spotted in the vicinity of the Chabad House in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, according to the LA Times. 60-year-old Ron Hirsch, who sometimes goes by Israel Fisher, fled Los Angeles after the Thursday incident, and on Monday, the FBI revealed he had been seen disembarking a New York-bound Greyhound bus in Denver, Colorado. more ›

A Beverly Hills Police Department SWAT team arrested a suspect today that happened to be the suspect in last October's North Hollywood synagogue shooting. On the 29th of that month, Christopher Littlejohn allegedly walked into the parking garage of Adat Yeshurun Valley Sephardic Synagogue and shot and injured two men heading to an early morning prayer service. more ›

A story from the Jerusalem Post on Iraseli organized crime in Los Angeles was picked up all over yesterday. Michael P. An early morning shooting at a North Hollywood synagogue has set in motion a series of precautionary actions just in case the incident was part of a larger plan. The LAPD is now on a citywide tactical alert, the Operations Center has been activated at a Level One and the FBI has joined into the investigation. Police say they are increasing patrols around "critical Jewish sites in their areas" and has alertet all Jewish day schools and synagogues of the incident. more ›

Two men were shot as they headed into a North Hollywood temple for morning prayer early today. It was about 6:20 a.m. when the two Jewish men in their 30s were approached by a man who pulled a gun, which jammed at first, according to the LA Times. The men were shot in the lower torso and are listed in stable condition. Police do not believe it is a robbery and are investigating it as a hate crime. The synagogue is the Adat Yeshurun Valley Sephardic synagogue on the 12000 block of Sylvan Street. UPDATE: A man has been detained by police, but it is unknown if he is a suspect. Patrols have been kicked up around other synagogues as they determine of this was a solo or group effort. more ›
