Limelight Invades Hollywood

Limelight Invades Hollywood

The Supperclub in Los Angeles is preparing for an invasion of misfits and freaks. Inspired by The Limelight Nightclub in New York City made famous by Michael Alig and the Club Kids and featured in the 2003 movie Party Monster, Limelight Thursdaze is poised to bring the freaks, the beats, and the beautiful people deep into the heart of Hollywood. Revitalization and gentrification of the area into a vanilla tourist trap means less progressive outlets on the strip. Supperclub wants to change all that. more ›

For its sixth season, The Next Food Network Star was shot in Los Angeles, and among the 12 finalists vying for their very own Food Network show are 3 locals, including food blogger and LAist alum Aarti Sequeira. Each week, Aarti will give us her take on the episode, from her unique insider's perspective. Will she be named The Next Food Network Star? We won't know until the finale. Southern Discomfort: First & Hope Supper Club

Trying a new restaurant can be like going on a job interview. You're hungry, you want--or need--something new, and you throw caution to the wind and hope it's a good fit. Maybe you dress up a little, put the proverbial best foot forward for that crucial first impression, and hope that the prospective place lives up to your expectations. Sharpened, With S.O.L.E: Chicks With Knives Supper Club

             + 1 more

Gentlemen--and ladies--if there's one thing I learned from the evenings I spent with the Chicks With Knives, it's that they want you to know there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Yes, they wield sharp cutting tools...but they only use them for good, not evil. And when I say good, I mean good tasting. That's because Chicks With Knives is actually a duo of chefs, Rachael Narins and Suzanne Griswold, and the name of their monthly supper club that focuses on S.O.L.E. food. more ›

New 'Mediterranean Fresh' Restaurant Coming to Hollywood

The Hollywood corridor dining scene is getting more exciting. First there was Kitchen 24, then Loteria Grill and now the soon-to-be Mediterranean Fresh that has popped up over the last month. Not much information is out there yet, but according to a waiter from the next-door Musso & Franks, the restaurant is owned by the same people opening the bawdy international chain Supperclub, which opens in December in the Vogue Theatre next door and will be a place where "patrons eat and drink on actual beds while watching edgy performers (dominatrixes, opera singers, midgets on bicycles, etc.) during lavish multi-course meals," according to the LA Times. more ›

Get Your Geek On - Twiistup 3 Rolls Into Town

Twiistup is hosting its third event tonight at the Air Conditioned Supper Club on Lincoln Boulevard in Venice. What is Twiistup? It's the brainchild of Mike Macadaan who was seeking to fill a need for a fun, tech-focused event that would showcase up-and-coming companies, while providing a casual environment for discovery and networking. Geeks are cool. Southern California tech company startups are hot and Twiistup is the place to be to bring those elements together. The event is sold-out, but never fear, LAist will be there to fill you in on all the excitement and news to come out of the evening.
