If there's one thing the world needs more of, it's naked girls on film. And thanks to indie-porn darlings, the Suicide Girls, we're about to get just that. The company is in the midst of casting a reality show for VH1 that will follow a group of young women on tour with the Suicide Girls Burlesque Show.

LAist Film Calendar: 'Boobs and Blood' and Armenian Independence Film Festivals
Never has an event been more tailored for the LAist Film Staff than the Boobs and Blood International Film Festival at the New Beverly. These connoisseurs of carnage and cleavage curate several incredible (and incredibly rare) programs. The fest opens Friday night with Suicide Girls Must Die!, the "reality horror" film that begs the question: aren't they technically Homicide Girls if they're disappearing during a calendar shoot in the woods? Saturday boasts the afternoon's biggest pair of '70s throwbacks, with nature-run-amok cash-in Mega Piranha, starring '80s starlet Tiffany and Greg Brady, and Russ Meyer tribute Pervert!, with former gubernatorial nominee Mary Carey.
DVD Tuesday: Who has Twilight fever? Who over 13?
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the Twilight books and movies provide an inherently evil model to young women about the kind of men they should date. Sure, Edward and Jacob are cute and all, but they are also violent and emotionally distant narcissists. Parents, don't be surprised when your cute little Cindy comes home with a black eye insisting, "But deep down he's really a good person!" Thank that lunatic Mormon Stephanie Meyer and her backwards ideas about sexuality.
This Week in the World of -Ist
This week ended with the launch of the seventh and final Harry Potter installation. But while the world was consumed with Pottermania, it's important to remember that there were more serious things going on in the world, too - two of them in -Ist cities.
LA Film Fest Review: The Wizard of Gore
Horror movies seem to come and go in cycles. Just as the wave of Japanese re-makes tapered off, so-called “torture” porn began its ascent. Given that, it’s refreshing to watch a horror film like The Wizard of Gore that doesn’t fit neatly into any category. It certainly has its share of gore (wonderfully specific and gruesome, by the way), but the bloodletting never overshadows the psychological war that is at the heart of the film’s story.
Tonight in Rock in LA - Louis XIV, The School of Rock
There's a lot of bad bands playing tonight, here are some good ones. For the NSFW Louis XIV vid starring Suicide Girls and directed by Eon McKai, meet us after the jump.
LAist Interview: Rad Girls Executive Producer Jason Martinez Gives Us Free Dutch Ovens & Other Delightful Treats
Farting is funny. For Hollywood’s own Jason Martinez, this is more than a simple truth or motto -- It's a philosophy, a manifesto, a mantra, a life direction, and the guiding force behind his Fuse TV breakout hit, Rad Girls. LAist sat down with lifelong LA-citzen and Co-Executive Producer J-Mar Superstar to ask some fluffy bunny questions about his Jackass-style, Suicide Girl-ish, truly revolting, terribly funny, train-wreck mesmerizing, completely irresistible new series… Q&A just...

LAist's top 10, reader-style
We've been posting some of our favorite things from 2005, so now it's time for yours. Here are the 10 most popular LAist posts of 2005, from basketball to Beckham, from Ashton to the Suicide Girls.
Odds & Ends
- South LA is just full of socially conscious news right now as a group of parents are banding together to improve conditions at area schools.
Suicide Notes
We're still not quite sure what's really going on between the disgruntled former models of Suicide Girls and the company behind the site. From everything we've been able to gather, most of the complaints seem to be about one of the company's owners and founders, Sean Suhl, and the perception of SG as a punk-feminist-free speech advocating adult site versus a reality of what many former employees feel is about censorship and the exploitation of their young group of models.
Odds & Ends
- And, finally, while we're promoting L.A. hearts LA at the Standard tomorrow night, you should know that there's a Reality Relief benefit at the Century Club tonight.
Suicide Girls Behaving Badly?
30 models have left Suicide Girls in the last few weeks complaining of unfair pay and exploitation. The women argue that while the site's alt-porn image is built on empowerment and a feminist-forward thinking erotica aesthetic, the Los Angeles based company is really run by a man, Sean Suhl. Wired points to unPink and tales from the dark site , blogs that are pulling together stories of unfair treatment by former suicide girls.
Around the Dial
There are lots of comings and goings on the radio this week as Steve Harvey's morning show on The Beat signed off on Friday and Suicide Girls Radio joined the Indie 103 lineup over the weekend. Harvey's popular show continued to do well in the mornings but was very expensive to produce and failed in its efforts at syndication. Former Laker and Best Damn Sports Show correspondent John Salley took over the slot for KKBT this morning.
From 8 Bits to Acrylics
The number to RSVP and hopefully avoid the line is (323) 937-7088. The opening and reception runs from 7 PM til 11 PM.
Getting Nekkid
For a new LAist first, tonight is the first time we've suggested an event involving nudity. It is summer, after all, so hedonism is allowed.
Let Your Freak Flag Fly
Check out the Suicide Girls interview with local LA punk legend Mike Watt. Considered by many to be the hardest working man in rock, Watt started his musical career playing bass in the San Pedro punk band The Minutemen with his best friend and Minutemen guitarist, D. Boon, and drummer George "Fireman" Hurley. After D. passed away in the early 1980s, Watt kept living the band motto—"jam econo"—touring and recording 364 days out of the year.
