Gossip Rags Aren't The Only Things We Read: In LA, Local Bookstores Make the A-List
Tinseltown, Southland, The Entertainment Capital of the World, El Lay, The City of Angels, Hell-A, La La Land —LA has its share of nicknames, but none seem to give our city due credit for the wealth of literature housed among these trafficked streets. Thanks to an unfortunate reputation as a not-so-literary city, LA local bookshops are often and unduly overlooked. But, forget what you might have heard (or haven’t heard, for that matter). Our local bookstores are big, small, specific, general, used, new, and all-around unique. Here are some of LA’s best independent bookstores:

The USA show Psych celebrates Twin Peaks’ 20th anniversary with a special episode. Watch it before it airs tonight at the Paley Center at 7 pm. Psych! A Twin Peaks Gathering features members from both casts in person including James Roday and Dule Hill from Psych and Twin Peaks original cast members including Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer), Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs) and Catherine Coulson (Log Lady), among others. Tickets: $15/$10 for Paley Center members.

Duvall Denies Affairs, Says they were Tall Tales
So Orange County Assemblyman Michael Duvall (R-Yorba Linda) yesterday resigned after being caught on video telling sordid tales of his alleged affairs. Apparently, those were just stories, he said in a statement: "I want to make it clear that my decision to resign is in no way an admission that I had an affair or affairs. My offense was engaging in inappropriate story-telling and I regret my language and choice of words.
