Read our exclusive LAist interview with G4TV's Olivia Munn to find out how she feels about playing Gay Chicken with Kevin Pereira, living in Los Angeles, and making out with her spray-tan lady

In the world we live in now, Pixar is nothing less than an institution. Every film it releases is an event and each of them receive excellent reviews and make piles of money. Of course, Pixar wasn't always so admired and ubiquitous. It was once a money-losing division of LucasFilm that was sold off to Steve Jobs for a paltry 5 million dollars. All of this is laid out in a behind-the-scenes feature on...

Utilizing his iPhone the way Steve Jobs hoped he would, LAist contributer Brad Herman took these pictures of the WGA writers strike from what appears to be out front of the Fox studios in West LA. Here we are now almost all the way through Day One of the strike and there doesn't seem to be any acts of violence or retribution, nor have any souls of teenagers found their way into their middle...

"Revelation satisfies all doubts, explains all mysteries except her own, and so illuminates the path of life, that fools discover it and stray no more." - William Cowper Sometimes I wonder how it happened. I try to think about how I used to be on the other side, a Cult of Mac hater...a Steve Jobs-despising PC fanboy. But now every time I boot up my Macbook Pro I think about how stupid I am...

Just got an e-mail from NYTimes.com confirming the end of the two-year-old TimesSelect subscription experiment. Our friends in New York are thrilled about this and so are we. All the content fit to publish should be freely available. The e-mail isn't exactly a Steve Jobs-esque love letter, leaving us to wonder whether or not there will be rebates for those who recently plunked down $50 for the right to indulge in the opinions of Maureen...

Steve Jobs is a very smart and powerful businessman. So did he purposely bite his tongue last week when he announced a $200 iPhone price cut -- just two months after launching the product? Was it a plot to steer additional hype toward the iPhone so the new iPods wouldn't steal all the thunder? Did he plan all along to offer store credit to those who shelled out $600 for an iPhone? Was Master...

There was very little else for Londonist to be concerned with when the threat of a Tube strike became a very unpleasant reality. The inconvenience was extreme: there aren't many alternatives to the Tube in London despite the best efforts of the Londonist team to get everyone from A to B. Brighter news came in the form of the first ever female Yeoman Warder, or Beefeater as the position is more commonly known, and several smiles as well as lots of cash were raised by some plucky urban ironing. London is apparently full of lies and whales: one of these things is true. We leave that up to you to figure out.

Loyal Apple customers flipped their shit yesterday at the news that the iPhone was dropping $200 in price a mere two months after its debut. Early adopters felt betrayed by the fact that they threw down a large amount of money to be part of the exclusive early adopter crowd, only to be undercut by a massive price cut -- and worse -- a thrifty version in the form of the iPod "Touch". Steve Jobs...

In order to appease the overwhelming influx of dissatisfied early adopter iPhone customers, Steve Jobs has issued an open letter addressing the $200 qualm. Although the logistics seem to be in the works, Jobs has decided to offer $100 of store credit to those who bought the iPhone through either AT&T or Apple without a rebate or any other consideration whatsoever: Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from...

Were you dismayed and confounded by the iPhone madness of June 2007? Did it disgust and disturb you to see your friends and colleagues giddily wait in line to drop $600 for the most-hyped mobile phone in history? Well that sniveling trickster, Steve Jobs is back, and he may be the only one laughing this time. Jobs' announcement of a new iPod came as a surprise to nobody. It looks and functions exactly like an...

Londonist are starting to think their city is getting just a little bit too expensive, when even Christian Slater can't afford to go out there. And there's no escaping, as local singer Lily Allen discovered when she was barred entry to the US. The British mapping agency caused further bad karma, by blocking a 3-D representation of London in Google Earth. But the smiles returned to Londonist's faces as they interviewed Baroness von Reichardt, who has completely covered her house in mosaic tiles.

And thank God that The Onion is on this Breaking News. However it is sorta weird that it was a Mac that brought it all down. We thought they were reliable and stuff....

After a good two weeks of bragging about being the first reviewers to test the God|Jesus|fuckme|iPhone, at least WSJ's Walt Mossberg and the NYT's David Pogue had the courtesy to post decent video reviews. Both reviewers did their best to avoid extreme gushing, while failing to really criticize the device. In fact, both are quick to blame AT&T's EDGE network for sucking without explaining why the iPhone does not connect to AT&T's faster networks...

Some interesting tech-related news from around the web this week. • Imitation may be a form of flattery (the sincerest kind, so they say) but AOL, I think you might have taken it a bit too far. • AT&T Chief Edward "Moneybags" Whitacre is retiring. His going away present? $158.5 Million. Not a bad present. I bet he won't try to return it. • Apple issues a fix for the battery issues that plague...

It's that time again friends. Time for a helping of the tech news from around the city, state, country and universe. As always, these are not always the most important stories but are the ones that particularly caught my eye during the week. So, sit back and relax and now that I'm somewhat recovered from last night's bug LAist "meeting" at Ye Rustic, here's the tech news for ye. The mayor of our fair...

Welcome to the latest installment of Ask the MACist and my special Macworld Expo 2007 coverage. After many hours in the car last night and a long stop at the grapevine because of an accident, I made it back to LA around 2AM this morning. It's good to be home. San Francisco is a nice place to visit but LA is my home. Although, as a Mac fan, it would be cool to live...

Hello again and welcome to the second installment of Ask the MACist Macworld Expo Edition. Last time I thrilled you with some of my predictions for this year's keynote speech given my Apple CEO Steve Jobs. Well, the keynote is over and so let's see just how I did. As Elina pointed out earlier, Apple introduced a few new and exciting products this year including the new Apple TV and a new iPhone which...

At this morning's keynote address for the 2007 Macworld Conference and Expo held in San Francisco, Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced two hotly anticipated new products: Apple TV, which will allow users to watch content from their computers on a television, and the new iPhone, which integrates a cell phone, an Internet communications device and a widescreen iPod into a single device. This news comes on the heels of yesterday's announcement that Google and Samsung...

Welcome to part one of a special week of "Ask the MACist" coming to you live-ish from beautiful and rather warm San Francisco. I'm here because this week all things Macintosh converge and the faithful enjoy a full week of all-Mac goodness known as Mac World Expo. At the expo, all the newest Apple goodies will be reveled for all to see and touch and yours truly will be right in the middle of...

We're going to put on our Andy Rooney hat for a minute. Please bear with us.

It seems that the rumors are indeed true, as they often are. This week The Walt Disney Company announced its purchase of animation powerhouse Pixar in a deal worth around $7.4 Billion. The all-share deal will make Steve Jobs, the chief executive of Apple who is also the largest shareholder in Pixar, around $3.5 Billion and the single largest shareholder in Disney. Jobs will now be a commanding presence in the film, entertainment, technology, computer and music industry through Apple's iTunes Music Store. He has ruled out becoming Disney's chairman in the future but has not turned down a board of directors position.

CUPERTINO, California - In a stunning move today that is sure to send shockwaves through the digital music industry, Apple Computer today announced the new "iPod Pica", the world's smallest digital music device carrying the slogan, "100,000 Songs At Your Fingertips."
