Once Again, the Sunset Strip Rocked Crowds with its Namesake Music Fest
In 2009 when West Hollywood gave Sunset Strip business owners the blessing to close it down for a rock festival, 10,000 people came shelling out $50 to access numerous stages and tons of music acts. It was a big step in the comeback of famous artery that once was the rock and roll mecca, and before that in the 30s and 40s, a Hollywood hangout.
90 + Bands: Sunset Strip Music Fest Announces Full Line-Up
Beyond the Smashing Pumpkins as the Sunset Strip Music Festival's headliner, organizers today released the full line-up for the three day festival. Over 60 of them will play on Saturday, August 28th, when the Sunset Strip will be closed to traffic for the street version of the festival that includes outdoor and indoor stages. Sharing the outdoor stages with the Pumpkins will be Slash (along with guests Myles Kennedy & Fergie), Common, Kid Cudi, Travie McCoy, Neon Trees, Semi Precious Weapons and Big B. Various shows will also take place inside venues on Thursday and Friday. The full line-up can be seen here.
Sunset Strip Music Fest Organizers Announce 2010 Dates
Talk about wasting no time. Organizers for the Sunset Strip Music Festival have already determined the dates for its third year. It will run from Thursday, August 12th through the 14th, with a Sunset Strip street closure on the last day.
“The first-ever street festival brought a renewed energy to The Sunset Strip, and we received a tremendous amount of positive response from the press, attendees, artists and city officials following the event,” said festival Executive Director Todd Steadman in a statement. “We are excited to solidify a date for 2010, and we are thrilled to build on the success of the event for next year.”
Roxy 2.0: How Social Media Brought the Club Back
Nic Adler grew up at The Roxy. His father, Lou Adler, opened the club the year Nic was born. He would spend his afternoons after school at the club and grew to dislike the rock music it became so famous for spotlighting.
