You know who hasn't gotten enough publicity lately? Charlie Sheen. Yeah, that guy from that terrible sitcom, "Two and a Half Men." To ensure that Sheen doesn't fall off the public's radar, Spike TV has decided to immortalize him through animation.
In Case You Haven't Had Enough Charlie Sheen, Here's an Animated Version
LAist Interview: "Yacht Rock" Creator J.D. Ryznar
J.D. Ryznar is so freaking amazing. Seriously. Just watch his cult Channel 101 Internet television show, "Yacht Rock." By popular demand, the definitive final and twelfth episode of Yacht Rock will be premiered tonight in Downtown LA at the new home of Channel 101, the Downtown Independent Theater. This ends a saga created from 2005 to 2006, followed by a "Footloose"-themed sequel starring Jason Lee as Kevin Bacon in 2008.
Meet Romanski: The 'Blue Mountain' Mascot
Spike TV (yes Spike TV) is in the comedy business. With last week's announcement that Blue Mountain State (Tuesdays 10 p.m.) is coming back for a second season, it looks like business is good.
Your Path to Playing for America's Team Begins Tomorrow
Much like America, the team commonly referred to as America's Team has fallen on some hard times. The Dallas Cowboys ended a drama-filled 2008 season on the wrong end of a 44-6 beat down courtesy of the Philadelphia Eagles in a must-win Week 17 game. The last time the 'boys won a playoff game, quarterback Tony Romo was 16 and Bill Clinton was in the White House.
Afro Samurai: The Coolest Cartoon on Television
Samuel L. Jackson may have chosen a few questionable roles in recent years (we're looking at you, Snakes and Jumper), but there's no denying his involvement in the latest anime-inspired project Afro Samurai is downright awesome. Upon receiving immediate praise after its first season aired in 2007, the follow up full-length feature (Afro Samurai: Resurrection) is finally slated to release this week, alongside a highly anticipated video game of the same caliber. LAist was invited to sit down with Jackson at a blogger roundtable in Beverly Hills, where the celebrated actor piqued our interest about the tales of the New Number 2.
Spike TV Throws a Playboy Mansion Bash
Going to the Playboy Mansion is like watching an episode of HBO's Entourage. You walk in and there are celebrities everywhere, almost like they are extras to your party going experience. McLovin' is chilling with the two girls of Superbad, Tila Tequila is hanging out by the sushi table, Jeremy Piven is chatting by the pool, Anna Ferris is waiting in line to use the bathroom, Obama Girl is relaxing on a couch and the list goes on.
Last Night's Action: You Gotta' Finish
Timberwolves 101, Clippers 87 - Disappointing. That's the only word to describe this home loss. After a last-second victory in their last game, the Clippers should have been excited to move beyond .500 and into a better position in the playoff race. Instead, the team had a mere 12 assists and turned the ball over 26 times, resulting in 32 points for a Minnesota team that evened with Los Angeles for the 8th playoff seed...
TV Junkie: NEW New New Episodes of: "Ugly Betty"/"The Office"/"30 Rock"/Etc.; Don't Forget to Watch the Swan Song Episodes of "The O.C." Starting Tonight
The long drought is over my friends -- regular programming is back, we have new shows and new series coming on every day. My life has some purpose again. My thumb was blistered from almost 2 weeks of endlessly scrolling through channel after channel of repeats and other unwatchable TV - I had almost depleted my tin of Bag Balm. Thank you TV, thank you networks, I may have said some harsh things last week but it was the blackberry brandy talkin', I swear.
