Popeye is a 2 year old male Pittie mix who is great with kids, smaller dogs, and loves people. He has been through a lot of training and knows his basic commands plus a lot of neat tricks. spcaLA Urges Governor Brown's Support Of Animal Rights Bill
Currently awaiting signature on Governor Brown's desk sits Senate Bill 917. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) encourages citizens to contact Governor Brown in support of this bill. Bill 917 would make the punishments for those convicted of animal neglect on par with those issued for intentional animal cruelty. Neglected animals suffer from a lack of life's basic needs: shelter, food, water and veterinary care.

LA-Based Animal Rescuers are Houston-bound to Aid After Hurricane Ike
Texas is dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, now downgraded to a tropical storm, which made landfall last night and wrecked havoc in the state. Many individuals did not heed warnings to evacuate, and rescue teams are going door-to-door in cities such as Galveston to try to get aid to those in need. In Houston the streets are flooded with stormwaters and debris.
