Funeral Held Today for Slain 19-Year-Old Explorer Volunteer
Funeral services are being held this morning for 19-year-old Cesar Rodriguez, a volunteer with the L.A. County Sheriff Department's Explorer program, reports the Daily News. Rodriguez was standing outside of a residence in Whittier in the early morning hours of August 28 with a friend when a gray Scion pulled up and the driver fired a handgun several times at the two young men. Heavy Metal: Bomb Squad Called to Burbank Home
A Burbank neighborhood was evacuated late yesterday afternoon when deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's bomb squad were on hand to remove "what appears to have been an old military explosive" from inside a home, according to LA Now.
