2 Men Sentenced for Roles in Post-Lakers Championship Melee
Two of the 45 people arrested on June 17 in the vicinity of the Staples Center following the Lakers' NBA Championship win have been handed down sentences for their role in the violence that erupted on the streets, according to LA Now. 20-year-old Mark Hull and 22-year-old Carlos Fuentes face 90 days in jail and a year of probation, during which time they must not go near the Staples Center. Hull is in custody at Camp Pendleton, charged with deserting the Marines. During the post-game melee, Hull threw rocks through a Downtown business' window, and Fuentes broke the lights on a police car.

Using fake plastic to pay for fake plastic (body parts) didn't pan out quite as planned for one OC woman. 30-year-old Laguna Niguel's Yvonne Jean Pampelllonne was sentenced yesterday to six months in jail for "using a fraudulent line of credit to obtain $12,000 in cosmetic surgery, including breast implants and liposuction," according to the Daily News. Pampellonne had pleaded guilty to charges of "burglary, grand theft and identity theft." While the judge ordered restitution, repayment is expected to come in the form of cash, not a return of the, uh, goods that were unlawfully obtained.

Director Roman Polanski remains under house arrest in a Swiss town, having already pledged to fight his extradition to the United States to face sentencing in a 32-year-old case. Today, however, lawyers are scheduled to meet here in Los Angeles to continue discussing what "future legal moves that could resolve the marathon prosecution," according to the Daily News.
