Hitchcock's masterpiece Vertigo is playing tonight at the Hammer Museum as part of Julian Hoeber's Demon Hill installation that is "an homage to the anxiety-producing, perception-warping" spots of the American roadside tradition. Sounds hoity-toity but...come on...it's Vertigo! Jacque Tati's Playtime will also be screened. Tickets required, but they're free.

The Second City Hollywood Gives Itself a Second Chance
After years of languishing primarily as a training center, it seems that the west coast outpost of the immensely popular Chicago comedy hotspot The Second City is finally revving up their push for a slice of the LA comedy scene. Now, the same ol’ space at 6560 Hollywood Blvd. has been completely revamped and is ready to party. Not to be outdone by the live venue, the burgeoning online presence of the SecondCityNetwork.com (please tell me you’ve seen Sassy Gay Friend) is now being run from the Hollywood location, making The Second City Hollywood a new viable alternative for live shows and video shorts alike.
Check It Out: FrankenMatt at Second City
Second City is a name synonymous with theatre and comedy. From early roots in Chicago and Toronto, Second Citizens have gone on to become some of the most recognized and revered comedy faces to dot the landscape of the past few decades. Perhaps no other improv / sketch comedy theatre has been as nationally influential in bringing about the current comedy scene we have today. And with outposts all across America, Second City has always put itself in a position to succeed.
