OK so the Oscars are this weekend. Even though the writers' strike is over, the prediction is that this will be a ho-hum (excuse me?) Oscars. First of all, the majority of the films presented for consideration are real downers, secondly, because of the strike, many potential presenters thought that the awards ceremony would be canceled or drastically cut back so they made other plans and are now not available to present at the show. I'm sure they will have enough presenters but perhaps there won't be as many "mega-stars", thus leaving room for more indie-types.

Get Your Lit On: The Week in Bookish LA
Cindy Pierce and Edie Thys Morgan presents Finding the Doorbell 7pm @ Book Soup
TV Junkie: Tuesday
It's been going on all day as it is: election coverage. Obviously you have your choice to get this news all night: CBS, ABC, PBS, CNN, MSNBC, and probably the best news source, Comedy Central. For all other decent viewing options see below.
TV Junkie: Thursday
Sorry I missed y'all yesterday but we're back. With just a few days before Xmas you may still have a hankering for your own personal favorite holiday shows and movies. LocateTV which is still in its Beta might be able to help you - just go to the site and type in your flick or program and it will hunt it down for you whether it be on TV, DVD, or online. Next week watch for a rant from me about this season's poor offerings. In a way, it's a good thing that there's been a hiatus in writing and producing new content, perhaps the networks have had more time to think about what they put on the TV for us to consume.
TV Junkie: Tuesday
Thankfully I had Tivo'd Sunday's Kenny vs. Spenny and Robot Chicken to watch last night because after the first 15 minutes of Saving Grace I couldn't take any more. Unfortunately I tuned back into SG in time to catch Lem giving Holly Hunter a hand job which was so not worth it. In case you missed him last week, you have a couple more chances to go to a Q&A with writer/creator David Milch at the WGA Theater tomorrow and Thursday from 2:15-4:00pm for FREE.
TV Junkie: Weekend Edition
A couple things on tonight but Saturday's a wasteland, go play in the sand or snow. Sunday is finale-city, check it out below. Have a great weekend.
TV Junkie: Wednesday (Writer/Creator David Milch Event Tomorrow!)
Hey, even though there might not be much newly written TV on tonight (that's worth watching) tomorrow you are cordially invited to see acclaimed TV show creator and writer David Milch (creator of Deadwood, NYPD Blue) host: "The Idea of the Writer: A Writing Discussion with David Milch" tomorrow from 2:15-4:00pm at the WGA Theater at 135 S. Doheny Drive in Beverly Hills. This event is FREE and all are welcome on a first come,...
LAist Night Out with The Hills
MTV's The Hills Season Finale pre-show, live after party took place tonight at AREA Nightclub in West Hollywood, which seemed to be the perfect spot for a soiree such as this. Walking the Red Carpet (or shall I say Blue Carpet) were Lauren, Brody, Audrina, LOD, Frankie, Katie and Heidi. And apparently the personal trainer. Surprise, suprise, Heidi Montag showed up on the carpet briefly, alone and without a wedding ring. it seems that...
TV Junkie: Tuesday - Rudolph and Victoria's Secret
How can it be Christmas with out Rudolph or hotties in underwear strutting through snowflakes? The previews for this week's Nip/Tuck looked hilarious, I hope it delivers; gonna have to Tivo part three of Tin Man which has been pretty good so far despite certain shortcomings that are particular to the SciFi channel. As always, thanks for your comments. 7:15pm Becket TCM - (1964) Do you remember being forced to watch this in high school...
TV Junkie: Weekend Edition
I hope you've got a bunch of stuff Tivo'd because there's nothing on until Sunday. You tell me that there is stuff on tonight? What, you mean Friday Night Lights, NUMB3RS, or Las Vegas? Please. Tomorrow, there's no reason to turn on prime time TV unless it's for Citizen Kane on TCM at 8:30. The Big Story is Sunday, check it: Sunday 8:00pm Mr. Warmth: The Don Rickles Project HBO - Special. Don Rickles is...
TV Junkie: Tuesday
Just read that one of Sid Caesar's writers, Mel Tolkin, just passed away at age 94, godlove'im. Instead of running vintage Leno re-runs they should be running some of this classic comedy that actually had great writing from way back in the day. The kids might learn something. 8:00pm A Charlie Brown Christmas ABC - If only this didn't have commercials, hmm, but if it didn't have commercials the show would be about 11 minutes...
TV Junkie: Thursday
Thursday night I almost invariably turn to NBC - what's gonna happen if we run out of new episodes of our fave shows? I might have to get creative, perish the thought. I apologize for writing the word "fashionistas" yesterday, I also apologize for saying that Kenny vs. Spenny was premiering - what we got last night was a sneak preview, not a premiere, the premiere happens on Sunday.

TV Junkie: Tuesday - 'Damages' Finale
The much anticipated Damages finale is tonight - since the series was so very good I'm already thinking beyond the finale and more about which players will remain for a second season. Ted Danson's Frobisher is so delightfully evil the airwaves will be much the poorer in his absence, if in this season marks his departure. 8:00pm Five Days HBO - Part 4 of 5. The only new drama programming on at 8pm tonight other...
TV Junkie: Weekend Edition
Hope you caught the season finale of Mad Men - it was excellent, especially the final pitch to Kodak (the finale will repeat tonight at 10:00pm on AMC). Am still bummed over the death of Deborah Kerr, of the King and I and From Here to Eternity fame (yeah, that was her rolling around in the surf with Burt Lancaster), she will be very much missed. We also lost the last remaining member of the Rat Pack (not the Brat Pack as I previously wrote), comedian Joey Bishop.
TV Junkie: Hump Day Picks - Sarah Silverman
I used the word hump mainly because I think that Sarah Silverman would endorse my use of that word, and perhaps go on to give us an explanation of humping and whom/what humping should be applied to. Am I immature? Yes, but it's a good kind of immature. I feel like I've waited forever for her show to get back on the air but the day hath arrived. Check the clip above to get...
TV Junkie: Weekend Edition
A Word or 48: The weekend might be there for watching some sports on TV. Other than the baseball there's the Monaco Grand Prix (Speed) on Sunday, as well as cycling's Giro d'Italia (Versus). For kicks, if you are truly desperate, watch Hudson Hawk in Spanish on KVEA on Saturday at 9 p.m. Tonight - Friday - June 1, 2007 Orioles @ Angels (Fox Sports, 7:00 p.m.) The Henry Rollins Show (IFC, 8:00 p.m.)...

TV Junkie: 'Idol' Semifinalists Revealed; 'Lost' Goes Back to the Old Island; Armstrong on Colbert
A Word or 48: House was pretty good last night and the timing was great what with the blizzard hitting New England today. With the semifinalists declared on Idol and Paula Abdul declaring that she's never been drunk in her life, I get the feeling that show is really coming along now. Today - Wednesday - February 14th, 2007 Breakfast at Tiffany's (TCM, 4:05 p.m.) Holly Golightly, not the band Beauty and the Geek...
