Coachella 2011 Set Times Announced: Got Conflicts?
Coordinating set times for nearly 200 bands over three days on six stages is no simple task. It's one aspect of Coachella that always creates tension among festival-goers who've had fingers-crossed that none of their favorite acts would have conflicting set times ever since the nonspecific daily schedules were released in February. And you only get 48 hours to figure out what band is playing at what time and on what stage.

LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy
Welcome back folks! This week has a lot of podcast action going on all over town, but the big news has to be the 8th Annual LA Improv Comedy Festival taking place at iO West. Some of the best in the city will be on hand to receive their respective accolades and take some stage time for themselves. Don't let that stop you from catching the great shows that LA has to offer on a weekly basis, though. There's lots of year-round comedy to be had.
LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy
It's an improv sort of week, with a few special other shows thrown into the mix. The Birthday Boys and A Kiss From Daddy have their monthly show at UCB, which is always a hit. There's a Haiti benefit show out in Venice that has a great line up, and the latest Moth GrandSLAM is out in Echo Park. The weather should be clearing up, so you can feel free to climb out from under your rock and get out to some awesome comedy. That is, if you're not lame. Lame people need not apply.
LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy
This really is a great month for comedy. The Irvine Improv is hosting some great names for the next couple of week, there's fantastic indie shows like Joke Lab, and Funny or Die is over at Largo. Huzzah!
LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy
This week has a bunch of good stand ups, including two special Bill Maher shows that are selling like things that sell well. Hotcakes? Not hardly. There's also a large amount of fantastic indie improv, be it at the iO West Loft, Room 101, Crashbar or out at Westside Comedy. Simply put, there's just no reason for you not to be pumped about this week in comedy.
LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy
Welcome back from a week of giving to the needy. Now it's time to give solely to yourself, and the greatest gift is the giggles! Get out and see some fantastic improv and sketch shows, even though stand up is ruling this week's calendar (in particular, the network of Improv comedy clubs is just going bonkers - Brea, Irvine, Ontario, and Hollywood all have great line-ups). As always, if you've got a hot tip on a great show, let us know.
LAst Laugh: This Week in Comedy
Well hello there, and welcome back to the world of the working. One would say 'living', but are you really living these days? Debatable. You've been looking for the next calendar holiday that your office actually observes, haven't you? Well unless you decide to call one in for MLK day, things are looking pretty bleak when it comes to time off.
Metrolink Approves Cutting Several Trains from its Schedule
A today's Metrolink Board of Directors meeting, a handful of train lines to Orange County and the Inland Empire were cut, according to transit advocate Ken Ruben, who attended the meeting. Four Saturday and two Sunday trains were cut from the Inland Empire-Orange County Line, leaving one round trip train on each weekend day.The Orange County line lost half of its trains, leave four on each weekend day. The move saves the agencies over $1 million over the next two fiscal years.
Transit Coalition to Metrolink: 'Fare Increases, Not Service Cuts, Are the Least Painful'
A transit lobbying group today released their formal position on budget-saving Metrolink proposals to either raise fares or jettison more than 50 trains from its schedule, which included canceling Orange County Weekend Service and a variety of other trains. Bart Reed, the Executive Director of The Transit Coalition, said fare increases would better serve ridership.
Experts Weigh in on Metrolink's Move to Cut 50 Trains
Metrolink says they are in a pickle. They've either have to raise fares, cut more than 50 trains or some combination thereof. Now that Wednesday's announcement as settled a bit, Damien Newton at Streetsblog LA has collected the thoughts from experts on the issue.
Some say that Metrolink usually serves as one-part of a passenger's trip, therefore making all public transit useless to them. Add to that a comment from economist Zach Gutierrez which could mean more cars on the road...
Screen Shows Bus Departure Times to Subway Riders
Now here's a nice idea. A reader at LA Streetsblog submitted a photo of a digital TV showing bus departure times at the Union Station Metro Red Line station. Little is known at this point, but it seems to be an experiment or at least the first of many. Line 20 to Santa Monica is departing in 15 minutes with the following one leaving in 24 minutes, it reads. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Did this Street Sweeper Miss the Point?
How silly. Here on this cul de sac in Sherman Oaks sat glass for nearly four weeks as street sweepers went by every Thursday. You can even see the vehicle's damp tire tracks going around the debris in the above photo.
