Electric Daisy Returning to Coliseum?

Los Angeles Coliseum commissioners will decide today if they will issue a permit for the Electric Daisy Carnival to return to the venue this June, according to ABC. The event was discontinued after 15-year-old Sasha Rodriguez collapsed from an ecstasy overdose at last year's event and died days later at a local hospital. Her death resulted in a moratorium on raves for several months, but the rave ban was lifted last November. The Electric Daisy Carnival is not the only recent rave that has come under intense scrutiny. Last month, USC president C.L. Max Nikias warned students about the dangers of ecstasy at raves after 17 people were taken to the hospital after a near-campus New Year's Eve rave. Thirty-five people were arrested after the Monster Massive rave on Halloween. more ›

Teen Dies After Drug Overdose at Electric Daisy Carnival

15-year-old Sasha Rodriguez of Atwater was one of the over 100 people transported out of the Electric Daisy Carnival at the Coliseum this weekend to an area hospital. The teen was in respiratory arrest when she arrived, lapsed into a coma, and experienced organ failure. Sasha "died shortly before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday," according to the LA Times.
