LAst Night's Action: Dodgers Do Nothing in Houston

LAst Night's Action: Dodgers Do Nothing in Houston

Houston Astros defeat LA Dodgers 3-2. Another day, another loss. Andre Ethier had staked the Dodgers and Ted Lilly (L, 8-10) to a two-run lead after hitting a homer in the first inning after Jamey Carroll got on base thanks to an error. The lead held up until Lilly made one mistake to Chris Johnson who belted a three-run homer in the sixth. The Dodgers had many opportunities to take the lead, but if you’ve seen the Dodgers lately the results aren’t surprising. John Lindsey got his first at-bat after 16 years in the minors as a pinch hitter for Lilly in the seventh inning. Lindsey flew out to center. The Dodgers now have a six-game losing streak, yet are still not mathematically eliminated from the postseason. more ›

Camelback Ranch: History in the Making

The Dodger spring training complex is a picture of baseball heaven. More than 13 fields, each manicured to perfection sit under a blazing Arizona sun as players mingle with fans and sign autographs amid the state-of-the-art site. The proximity to Los Angeles versus Florida was certainly a key reason many new spring training visitors made trek to the new site while many cited the beautiful fields and relatively cheap ticket prices as reasons to come back. But before the site can be declared a success, Dodger brass must first fix one key component: honoring the team's storied history as the old site in Florida did so well. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Kings Top the Senators

LAst Night's Action: Kings Top the Senators

LA Kings defeat Ottawa Senators 1-0. It's good when a team wins a game they're supposed to win. The Kings did just that against a horrible Ottawa team who just fired their head coach over the weekend. It wasn't a pretty game by any means - neither team got more than 30 shots on goal - but goalie Jonathan Quick saved all 29 shots on goal for the Kings to preserve the win. Michael Handzus scored a goal late in the third period to break the tie. more ›

LAst Night's Action: Comeback Kids

LAst Night's Action: Comeback Kids

Dodgers 6, Padres 5 - The Blue Crew spoiled Trevor Hoffman Night in San Diego, smoking the Padres closer for four runs in the ninth. Hoffman was being honored that game for being baseball's career saves leader, but all the Dodgers gave him was a loss. The comback win snapped LA's losing streak at four and put them back into first place in the NL West. Canucks 2, Ducks 1, 2OT - Anaheim staged a... more ›

Bloody And Bloodier, Dodgers And Angels Teams Mash It Out

Bloody And Bloodier, Dodgers And Angels Teams Mash It Out

You can certainly forgive the Dodgers for losing this series;
flying to Minneapolis with no scheduled travel day, they collided
head-on with the href="http://www.bat-girl.com/archives/001564.php">hot, hot, hot Joe
Mauer and two of the Twins' best starters, rookie Sandy Koufax
impressionist Francisco Liriano, and Cy Young candidate Johan Santana.
The discombobulated Dodgers couldn't hit their stride offensively
or pitch well at any time.
Chad Billingsley, the Dodgers' promising rookie who was brought up to
stabilize the fifth rotation spot, fell apart instead. He gave up six
runs over five and two thirds innings in href="http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=260626109&date=20060626">Monday's

"I really don't think I could have pitched that bad if I told them
what was coming."
