The runoff election between Joe Buscaino and Warren Furutani to fill the vacated Los Angeles City Council district 15 seat takes place on January 17, but if voters were looking to the former seat holder, U.S. Rep. Janice Hahn (D-San Pedro), for her endorsement, they're going to have to keep looking. Hahn says she won't endorse either.
Buscaino or Furutani For CD15 Seat? Former Councilwoman Hahn Won't Endorse Either
Election to Fill Hahn's CD 15 Seat Ends In Runoff Between Buscaino and Furutani
The race to fill Janice Hahn's vacant Los Angeles City Council seat has become the tale of the Officer and an Assemblyman. The two top finishers in last night's special election in CD 15 has resulted in a runoff slated for Los Angeles police officer Joe Buscaino and Assemblyman Warren Furutani.
Hahn Defeats Huey in CA-36 Runoff Race in Decreasingly Democratic District

Heal the Bay & South L.A. Students Turning Median into Pocket Park
A charmless, desolate block-long traffic median in South Los Angeles is about to become the neighborhood's newest "pocket park" thanks to the efforts of Heal the Bay, some local school kids, and an infusion of grant funding from California State Parks. Assemblyman Paul Krekorian and Businesswoman and City Commissioner Chris Essel dominated the results, something that was not too surprising, one bit. Here are the full results:

What it takes along with it--chemicals, trash, etc--is extremely harmful and wasteful, too. If the little water brought to us in Southern California was spent on keeping it in the groundwater system instead of spending money to move it out, all the better. The Lookout News in Santa Monica was at a demonstration yesterday and explains how the new one on the 100 block of Bicknell Avenue works:
