So let me get this straight: take Adam Sandler (not funny), Kevin James (not funny), David Spade (once funny), Chris Rock (once funny) and Rob Schneider (once sort of funny) and you get a summer comedy blockbuster? I would almost see Sex and the City 2: Venality Reigns before seeing Grown Ups. What I will see, though, is Knight and Day. Cruise and Diaz were solid together in Vanilla Sky, and they look finely matched in this over-the-top actioner. Still think that we need troops in Iraq and Afghanistan? Adam Sandler and Kevin James, although not gay, have great on-screen chemistry in I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry. Throw in one of the best comedic performances of Sandler's career and you've got a movie that everyone is going to be talking about this weekend. Perhaps it's his recent foray into serious roles that has made Sandler a more seasoned actor, bringing fresh ideas and nuances into his comedic performances -- whatever it is, his character in this movie is sure to please everyone. more ›
