A portion of the Pacific Coast Highway west of Malibu will remain closed, possibly until Friday, according to Malibu Patch. "The nine-mile stretch from Neptune's Net at Yerba Buena Road to Las Posas Road had been expected to reopen Monday at 6 p.m., but the weekend rain has prevented this from happening." Mudslides and Flooding Cause Road Closures, Other Hazards


    While there are some clearing conditions now in the skies above Los Angeles, a night and morning of heavy rains has caused serious damage to homes and property as well as created hazardous road conditions all over the area. Road closures include the 2 Freeway which is closes from 2 mi east of the 210 in La Cañada-Flintridge to Islip Saddle (LA Co.); SR 27/Topanga Canyon Blvd closed from SR 1 to Topanga Canyon Road; and the transition road from the SB 110 Freeway to the NB 101 Freeway near downtown LA (due to flooding). Many mountain roads and surface streets are also closed and/or flooded and many accidents have been reported.

Updates: Station Fire, Guiberson Fire Closer to Containment

Full containment of the month-long Station Fire remains just out of grasp, according to an update issued this morning. The massive wildfire continues to hover at 98% containment, however officials are not currently able to provide a specific date for 100%. This is because "a small portion of the containment line is completely inaccessible and cannot be reached by crews in a safe manner. This area of open line is located in the San Gabriel Wilderness near Twin Peaks and will be continuously monitored." Although the skies do not indicate that the area continues to burn, potential visitors to the Angeles National Forest are reminded that "travel and recreation within the fire perimeter is still extremely dangerous and not allowed," and multiple road closures remain in effect. more ›

PCH Closed After Tree Falls on Bus in Pacific Palisades

A section of the Pacific Coast Highway was closed this morning after part of a tree fell on a bus around 8 a.m. in the area of Chautaqua Boulevard. The tree fell onto some power lines and a Metro Route 534 bus, knocking out electrical service to about 1,200 customers, according to Kim Hughes of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. No injuries were reported. Eastbound PCH remained closed between Las Tunas beach and Temescal Canyon Road while crews worked to clear the scene. more ›

Triangle Complex Fire: Current Freeway Closures

Due to the Triangle Complex Fire (sometimes referred to as the Freeway Complex Fire) that has affected the areas of Corona, Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, Chino Hills, Brea Canyon, and Diamond Bar there remain several freeway closures. The following closures are currently in effect: 57 Freeway between Lambert Road and the 60 Freeway; 71 Southbound at Pine to the West 91 connector; 241 Northbound from Santiago to the 91 Freeway; 91 Westbound to the Southbound 241. Motorists are encouraged to stay away from the burn areas and to leave the streets as clear as possible so that evacuees can make swift exits and emergency personnel can reach the affected areas with ease. more ›
