Sedlar, Milliken Repping L.A. In Next "Top Chef Masters"
The knives are coming out for a third installment of the all-pro TV cooking competition show Top Chef Masters on Bravo, and today the network has revealed the list of 12 "cheftestants" and solidified who will be doing the adjudicating.
Representing Los Angeles are two beloved and well-known local culinary stars, Mary Sue Milliken of Border Grill, and John Rivera Sedlar of Rivera and the just-opened Playa.

There's been a flurry of activity on Beverly Boulevard as the former Grace spot is in its final stages of being transformed into Chef John Rivera Sedlar's latest project, Playa. We're told they're prepping for an opening on or around February 4th. Sedlar previewed some of the menu back in September during a stint at Test Kitchen; the concept is a slightly more casual Latin eatery than his Downtown Rivera.

Storytelling is at the core of Chef John Rivera Sedlar's food. Earlier this year at Downtown's Rivera, Sedlar showcased a new menu based on the history, myth, and culture of his Spanish roots. Called "Sangre," the menu was offered to dineLA customers in February, and was the first step towards implementing a set of new menus that would speak to the diner about the profound connections between past and present--both historically and in his own culinary life.

'To Live and Dine in LA' Brad Johnson's Best of LA
Last Sunday Angeleno Magazine honored some of Los Angeles' best chefs and restauranteurs during the "Chef's Night Out" charity event. James Beard Award-winning critic Brad Johnson recently chose his top 50 restaurants for the July issue of Angeleno in a marathon of gastronomy that seems at times to have rivaled Le Grande Boeuf. Johnson's annual survey of local restaurants is broken down into a Top 50, Top 25 and Top 10.
