Driver Arrested For Going 30 MPH Through Glendale, In Reverse
A 49-year-old man could face reckless driving charges after police spotting his Mazda going 30 mph in reverse for approximately three miles through central Glendale on Saturday, reports the Glendale News-Press. An off-duty officer reportedly spotted Gurgen Gukasyan at about 6 a.m. on North Glendale Avenue looking over his shoulder as he drove backward with his right arm on the passenger seat and his head turned.
Murder Charges Thrown Out for Truck Driver in Deadly Angeles Crest Highway Crash
The truck driver who killed two people and injured twelve when his vehicle careened into a La Canada Flintridge intersection was spared the possibility of murder charges today. A Pasadena Superior Court judge said there was insufficient evidence that Marcos Barbosa Costa, 44, had intent to kill people, according to the Daily News. However, he will still face vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving charges.
Hollywood Pursuit Ends in Death of 2 Pedestrians
Shortly before 9:00 p.m., an LAPD West Traffic Division officer attempted to pull over a car for reckless driving on Hollywood Blvd. The suspect did not stop, prompting a short pursuit before hitting two pedestrians between Wilcox and Cahuenga and then crashing the vehicle. Both pedestrians, a male and a female between the ages of 35 and 40, were pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the vehicle was treated for wounds and arrested.
