We knew that Scarlett Johansson was to host this weekend's "Saturday Night Live" (with musical guest Arcade Fire) but we didn't know it was to be for the 3rd time (she's only 25). We remember that she wasn't the best of guest hosts the last time she did it or are we confusing her with (yet) another mediocre guest host? Of course "Conan" opened to stellar ratings last night but as we discussed yesterday, the trick for O'Brien will be to see if he can sustain an audience and continue to convert his new media followers into regular viewers of his TV show. It seems highly unlikely that he will be able to keep the same numbers as he had last night, but if he held onto even half of them, "Conan" would be an overwhelming success. more ›

On December 6th the second season of "Men of a Certain Age" returns to TNT and coincidentally the first season is available on DVD as of today. TNT has been re-running episodes in preparation for the new season so now you have several options to catch up on one of the best shows to (barely) debut in 2009. more ›

We feel that viewers have really lucked out with not only getting "Men of a Certain Age" but with the chance to really explore it more as the series has been renewed for another season. "Men of a Certain Age" airs on TNT on Mondays at 10pm but it seems like a show that might never have been as the pilot of the was shot almost a year and a half ago. It began airing just after Thanksgiving, a strange date to premiere, and it played through most of the holiday season while other shows tend to go on hiatus. more ›

The show is penned and produced by Ray Romano and it's no three-camera-with-studio-audience comedy. It's an excellent show and despite the name it's not targeted at 40-something guys. Multi-Emmy-award winner Andre Braugher is a cast member of multi-Emmy-award winner Ray Romano's new comedy on TNT, "Men of a Certain Age" which premieres tonight at 10pm. So how did one of the greatest Shakespearean actors of our generation get involved with a TV comedy? Perhaps because this isn't any ordinary comedy - this is Ray Romano unfettered by the 3-cameras-and-a-studio-audience format. This is also Ray Romano putting together realistic storylines without getting subjected to network-managed focus groups and who-knows-how-many layers of management. The result is an excellent show (we've seen 4 episodes), of what the LA Times is calling a dramedy, with honest-to-life characters, great dialogue, and situations that range from the very funny to the poignant. The critics who have already published their "Top Ten TV Shows of 2009" without including "Men of a Certain Age" have been more than premature. more ›
