LA Kings defeat Ottawa Senators 1-0. It's good when a team wins a game they're supposed to win. The Kings did just that against a horrible Ottawa team who just fired their head coach over the weekend. It wasn't a pretty game by any means - neither team got more than 30 shots on goal - but goalie Jonathan Quick saved all 29 shots on goal for the Kings to preserve the win. Michael Handzus scored a goal late in the third period to break the tie.

I am a complete nerd. I’ve always been enthralled by scorekeeping. I always wanted to learn how to do it so I could keep track of who does what and be able to capture everything that happens in a game on paper. So years later I can look at this sheet of paper and sort of relive the game.

Well after two games, there's sure a lot to wallow in. New acquisitions Luis Gonzalez and Juan Pierre are 0-for-15. Starting pitchers Derek Lowe and Randy Wolf have combined for a not-so-stellar 9.00 ERA in 10 innings. And Rafael Furcal remains mired on the disabled list with a sprained ankle (not necessarily the best of injuries for a speedy lead-off hitter).
