Yesterday's Dodger game was worth the long drive and the unbelievable heat and even the helmet sundae fiasco. All of the elements of a great game were there: Randy Johnson was starting (against Randy Wolf for a Randy vs. Randy battle which made me giggle), Martin hit a 2 run home run in the 1st inning which made the rest of the game seem easy, every Dodger in the starting lineup made it on...
Arizona gives the Dodgers a nice goodbye present
One Step Away
Going up 2-1 after a beatdown of Randy Johnson, the Angels are primed to take the series sooner than later, although Saturday’s rainout makes “later” an equally possible option. Jarrod Washburn’s experience three years ago undoubtedly gives him the edge over the talented but untested Shawn Chacon, the last person Yankee fans thought would be pitching meaningful playoff games for them after the offseason acquisitions of Carl Pavano, Jaret Wright and Johnson.

Worth Every Penny
There are rumors circulating again that the Dodgers might be back in the Randy Johnson sweepstakes, or might acquire Steve Finley, but we'll leave that aside for now.
Randy Return?
Johnson would like to be a Yankee, but George Steinbrenner has traded away all of his prospects and he doesn't have a decent package to offer. Johnson would also like to be a Cardinal, but St. Louis reportedly does not want to take on his salary. Gammons said that Johnson is wary of waiving his no-trade clause for the struggling Angels, so that leaves the Dodgers as a viable option (if Arizona is willing to trade within the division).
