The family of a gang member who died during police custody in 2007 has been awarded $3.2 million in a wrongful death suit. Mauricio Cornejo, 31, was chased by police near the Ramona Gardens housing project in Boyle Heights on February 3, 2007, during which a bloody confrontation ensued.
