The LAPD had been in pursuit of a man they suspected was driving a stolen SUV since about 11:30 p.m. last night. During the course of the chase the suspect drove in loops through Beverly Hills, ultimately opting to head to Santa Monica via Sunset Boulevard. Police say "several men entered a home in the 8100 block of Mannix Drive at about 1:40 a.m." and during the course of the invasion both "the homeowner and an animal in the home were shot." After the suspects fled the police pursued them by car, and the "dramatic" chase "ended with a crash in Mid-City at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and Hauser." A police pursuit that began in Westchester has ended in a standoff between the suspect and police outside the federal building in Westwood. Officers from Pacific Division attempted to detain the suspect on a warrant when he fled in a Volkswagen, prompting the pursuit around 10 a.m. The suspect reportedly has made threats against the White House and the Secret Service is apparently involved, according to the LA Times. This morning, a vehicle involved in killing two pedestrians on the boulevard last night still sat in the middle of the street. The two victims were reportedly holding hands as they walked across the street. The motorist was being pursued by an LAPD traffic officer, ran a red light, struck the couple and continued down Hollywood Boulevard before he stopped and was arrested, according to the LAPD. more ›
