According to the information displayed with The Queen of Rock's car, "Janis Joplin bought this used 1965 Porsche from a Beverly Hills car dealer for nearly $3500 in September 1968. Dave Richards, a roadie for Joplin's former band, Big Brother and the Holding Company painted the car in a swirling psychedelic design which included the image of Joplin and Big Brother on the front fender."
Porsche* Falls From 101 Freeway, Kills Driver, Starts Fire
Early this morning at around 2:30 a lime green 2008 Porsche plummeted approximately 30 feet off the westbound 101 Freeway near Shoup Avenue and crashed into a parking structure on Burbank Boulevard. Once the vehicle landed it burst into fire, setting a nearby parked car aflame as well. The driver of the vehicle, who appeared to be alone, died in the accident. Their name has not been released. *According to another news network, the car was a Lamborghini.
