An anti-illegal immigrant protest organized by neo-Nazis faced off against a much larger crowd of counter-protestors at Pomona's civic center yesterday.
The face-off was tense but mostly peaceful. There were no injuries or arrests. Counter-protestors outnumbered the neo-Nazis by six to one, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune reported.

The now-former Los Angeles County health inspector who groped a Pomona bakery owner has been sentenced to 115 days in jail after he was "convicted of sexual battery," says LA Now. 51-year-old Magdy Naiem Tawadros was caught on video assaulting the donut shop owner during an inspection, and the victim says he used his position to intimidate her during their March, 2010 encounter. Tawadros ultimately awarded the shop a 91% approval; he also lost his job once the owner filed a claim and charges.

'Hands-On' County Health Inspector Charged with Sexual Battery
A 50-year-old Los Angeles County Department of Health inspector has been charged with one misdemeanor count of sexual battery against the female owner of a Pomona donut shop. Magdy Tawadros allegedly groped the business owner in the back room of her shop during a routine health inspection visit on March 24th; the woman claims he "used his position to intimidate her and tried repeatedly to hug her" during the encounter, which was captured on video. If convicted, the defendant could be sentenced to a maximum six-month jail term and fined $2,000.

LA County Health Inspector Allegedly Groped Bakery Owner
The owner of a Pomona bakery has filed a claim with Los Angeles County after alleging one of their health inspectors groped her while visiting her shop as part of his job duties, according to cbs2. The bakery proprietor says that Magdy Tawadros "used his position to intimidate her and tried repeatedly to hug her in a back room of her business last month." The encounter was captured on the bakery's surveillance camera, and Tawadros has since been suspended without pay. The woman's claim with the county is for up to $10 million in damages.
Large Landslide Shuts Down Transitions Between 3 Freeways
Transitions between three freeways have been affected this morning after a large landslide brought large boulders and dirt into lanes. Calls began to pour into California Highway Patrol offices around 8:38 a.m. this morning alerting officials to the problem. There is a full closure of the eastbound I-10 to northbound SR-57 transition road in the San Dimas/Pomona area. "This closure is also affecting the transition from the northbound SR-71 to northbound SR-57," said the CHP, which notes that no cars are trapped under the debris. Caltrans is en route to assist with the closure, which will remain in effect until further notice.
Trail of Shoe Prints Lead to the Arrest of 4 Burglars
Out in Pomona, police arrested four young men who burglarized a home Friday night and left a trail of shoe prints that aided police in their quick capture. They were found nearby, "sleeping in a garage stacked with the stolen property, and with some of the ill-gotten goods in their pockets," according to ABC7. Items from other possible burglaries were also found. The four will be arraigned tomorrow.

The LA Phil to Play Free Neighborhood Concerts
As part of their annual neighborhood and community concert series, the LA Philharmonic will be visiting Van Nuys, Inglewood and Pomona next month. It's all about their goal of making "music accessible to the widest possible audience." To that end, the three concerts are free (well, the Pomona show is an easy $5) and will feature Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on “Greensleeves,” Mozart’s Exsultate, jubilate and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker, Suite No. 1. The South Coast Air Quality Management District says you should exercise caution and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities in areas directly impacted by smoke. We brought our family, checked out the farm animals and attractions and oh my freaking god, did we eat a lot of deep fried food and cheese fries. The month-long LA County Fair ends on Sunday with Saturday hosting the LG World Championships of Freestyle Motocross and a Filter concert (but they do cost extra). LA County Fair: Family Photo Tour
The Los Angeles County Fair is in town at the Pomona Fairplex from September 5th thru the 29th. Lots of fun, food, and farm for the whole family! More than just milking cows and eating pies, there are a number of activities ranging from animal amusement to educational to just get out and eat! The usual rides and games are scattered throughout plus there is shopping, dancing and just about anything you could want to do. Plenty of parking: $10 general, $15 reserved and $20 VIP (the VIP is worth it if you go when its hot) and stay 'til late! The fair is open Wed - Sun generally from 11am to 10pm. Adult admission is $17 ($12 weekdays) and kids get in for $12 ($7 weekdays). There are also group rates and season passes. Here is a little of what we saw this weekend...

It's that time of year again--time to pack everyone in the car, gas it up, and trek out to the Fairplex in Pomona to get your LA County Fair on. You may have been seeing those ads that play on current events for this year's 18-days of fun and counting the days, or maybe you've never been. Either way, it's a fun outing, and, if you go today, admission is only $1 until 5 p.m. The fair boats hundreds of attractions, rides, booths, and shows, ranging from exotic animals to home improvement, prize-winning crafts and baked goods on display, horse racing, parades, concerts, and competitions galore.

We can't emphasize enough that this earthquake is considered a "moderate" one and caused relatively little damage throughout the region. However, with that said, some damage and a handful of minor injuries did happen. Today's quake, a 5.4, was just one percent of the energy of the 1994 Northridge 6.7 earthquake, according to CBS2.

Missing Woman Found Dead In Police Employees' Parking Space
For the second time in two months, police and rescue workers overlooked a woman's dead body in a vehicle that was in their possession.
