LAst Night's Action: Dodgers Do Nothing in Houston
Houston Astros defeat LA Dodgers 3-2. Another day, another loss. Andre Ethier had staked the Dodgers and Ted Lilly (L, 8-10) to a two-run lead after hitting a homer in the first inning after Jamey Carroll got on base thanks to an error. The lead held up until Lilly made one mistake to Chris Johnson who belted a three-run homer in the sixth. The Dodgers had many opportunities to take the lead, but if you’ve seen the Dodgers lately the results aren’t surprising. John Lindsey got his first at-bat after 16 years in the minors as a pinch hitter for Lilly in the seventh inning. Lindsey flew out to center. The Dodgers now have a six-game losing streak, yet are still not mathematically eliminated from the postseason.
LAst Night's Action: Kings Beat Panthers for Winning Road Trip
LA Kings defeat Florida Panthers 4-3 (SO). Jack Johnson shoots the winning goal in the shootout as the Kings notch a victory in their last two games on the road for a winning road trip going 3-2-0. The Panthers came out in the second period scoring two goals within two minutes. Johnson would get the Kings in the game with a power play goal halfway in the second period. After Jarrett Stoll knocked evened the game in the third period on a power play goal, the Lightning had a power play opportunity. Randy Jones helped to kill the penalty by scoring a short handed goal for the Kings to take the lead with seconds left in the power play. The win gives the Kings 28 points, second most in the Western Conference.
DVD Tuesday: Toupee Alert! Toupee Alert!
Nicolas Cage retains his title as the Enigma with this week's release of Knowing. I know I'm repeating myself, but has there been an actor in recent history who's made more mystifying choices? Rarely is an actor either brilliant or awful. Cage is always EXACTLY that. I first noticed Odette Yustman in a tiny cameo in Walk Hard. Yeah, she jumps off the screen like that. Too bad The Unborn is rote horror bilge. You know, the MST3K folks could probably make a very funny movie about Push. Dorky storyline? Check! Bad special effects? Check!
