L.A. Now reports that the victim hasn't been identified, and that the suspect is still at large. There's no description of the shooter, and police don't have a motive.

Investigators with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department have issued a "security hold" on information regarding the case, which blocks the coroner's office from sharing what they've learned about the body parts.

Authorities in Pico Rivera are investigating the death of a young male, thought to be in his late teens or early 20s, whose body parts were found stuffed in a garbage bag and stashed in the back yard of a home.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau detectives were sent to the 8500 block of Pico Vista Road at around 8:30 Wednesday night, according to the LASD.

A flock of herons has Pico Rivera residents squawking about a 50-foot ficus tree on the 9500 block of Bert Street that's been a migratory stop for the marine birds for over a decade. Residents living below say "they are are fed up with the marine birds they find on the street every day and the endless sound of avian droppings," according to the Whittier Daily News. Residents want city officials to relocate the birds, or remove the tree.

When the Gold Line Eastside extension opens this summer whisking commuters from downtown to East LA, that won't be the end of the line if Metro gets their way.
