In ten years, we'll remember this movie for introducing Olivia Thirlby | Photo courtesy of Fox Searchlight Now that all the hubbub has subsided, can we all agree that Juno was really just an okay movie and that there's no way Ellen Page should ever have been nominated for an Oscar? All I know is that whenever Rainn Wilson or Olivia Thirlby were on-screen I paid zero attention to the dour and monotone Page.......

How can it be Christmas with out Rudolph or hotties in underwear strutting through snowflakes? The previews for this week's Nip/Tuck looked hilarious, I hope it delivers; gonna have to Tivo part three of Tin Man which has been pretty good so far despite certain shortcomings that are particular to the SciFi channel. As always, thanks for your comments. 7:15pm Becket TCM - (1964) Do you remember being forced to watch this in high school......

I decided to hold this review (and the Pixar Short Films DVD) for as long as I could because I wanted it to be fresh in everyone's minds as they prepared for the start of the Christmas shopping season this Friday. Whether you are looking for something for a girlfriend or a nephew or even a grandparent, Ratatouille belongs in your basket. It is another in the increasingly long string of delightful movies that......

What if... Jennifer Hudson doesn't win? Sometimes the one sure thing turns out not to be the one sure thing. Then who wins? The ten year-old. None of the others are in the running, and I say that thinking that Rinko Kikuchi should win, even though I had tons of problems with Babel. Everyone likes the ten year-old. Don't count out the ten year-old. What if... Eddie Murphy doesn't win? Then the theory that......

A Word Or approx. 60: Goodbye O.C., a shame that the show is better now than it has been for the last couple seasons. Hey, who is the amazing Thai girl that was in Lost last night? Lots of new shows tonight, am going to have to order that second Tivo. Tonight - Thursday - February 22nd, 2007 Ben Hur (TCM, 5:00 p.m.) Saddle up for the long haul with this epic classic, cast......

A Word or 116: So I missed the first 10 minutes of the Grammys which meant that I missed the effing Police. I punished myself by watching the rest of the Grammys: a collection of posers I will never go see perform and whose songs I've never heard and will never care to hear. 24 is back with a 2 hour allotment but my understanding is that I'm not supposed to watch 24 anymore......

The Messengers - Acclaimed Hong Kong-born horror-meisters Danny and Oxide Pang, the twin brothers who directed Bangkok Dangerous and the wildly successful Asian horror franchise The Eye, direct their first English-language film, The Messengers. This PG-13 thriller stars Dylan McDermott, Penelope Ann Miller and Kristen Stewart in an ominous tale about a family who moves to a rural sunflower farm, where the troublemaking youngest son soon begins to experience supernatural phenomena. Because I Said......

A Word or 33: Is anyone watching "Idol"? I can't believe it's back, I just haven't accepted it. Maybe when Diana Ross comes on as a consultant, perhaps after she sues "Dreamgirls," then I might consider it. Today - Wednesday - January 17th, 2007 Lakers @ Spurs (KCAL, 6:00 p.m.) "Foreign Correspondent" (TCM, 7:00 p.m.) A '40s classic from Hitchcock. "American Idol" (Fox, 8:00 p.m.) Season premiere part deux. "Armed & Famous" (CBS, 8:00......

A Word or 42: There's nothing funnier than watching pundits try to fill in the 7 minutes after a Presidential speech ends and before regular programming resumes. Great delivery on the speech though, it reminded me of the animatronic Lincoln I saw at Disneyland in 1977. Tonight - Thursday - January 11th, 2007 "Smallville" (the CW, 8:00 p.m.) Tori Spelling guests "My Name Is Ed"/"The Office"/"Scrubs"/"30 Rock"/"ER" (NBC, 8-11:00 p.m.) ALL NEW "Ugly Betty"......

A Word or 23: Our President attempts to communicate using the English language tonight, thus causing a ripple effect of TV scheduling problems extending well into primetime. Tonight - Wednesday - January 10th, 2007 Lakers @ Rockets (KCAL, 5:30 p.m.) "Presidential Address" (PBS, CBS, ABC, FOX, etc. 6:00 p.m.) This'll be good, get ready for it. "Armed and Famous" (CBS, 8:00 p.m.) Series Premiere. Wee Man, Eric Estrada, Jack Osbourne, and LaToya Jackson are......

It appears that today will be a quiet day—not much going on the world of arts and entertainment, though what is going on is well worth your time. LAist encourages everyone to get out of the house and enjoy the last waning days of summer as we creep toward Labor Day.
