A policy change affecting much of Los Angeles County is being implemented, which means restaurants are now able to decide if they want to allow patrons to bring their dogs into outdoor eating areas.

Time to Butt Out: Smoking Ban on Restaurant Patios & At Food Trucks Goes Into Effect on March 8
Smokers, and smoking supporters, put a big red circle on your calendar on March 8th, because that's the first day of enforcement for a ban on smoking on outdoor eating areas in the City of Los Angeles.
The motion, first introduced in 2008 by Councilman Greig Smith, and seconded by Tom LaBonge, will see to it there will be no second hand smoke with your meal on outdoor patios of establishments where food is served.
No Smoking on Apartment Patios or Balconies in Santa Monica?
The group Santa Monicans for Non-Smoking Renters Rights want their City Council to take a current no smoking law one step further. Earlier this year, the group successfully proposed that smoking be banned from common areas in apartment and condo complexes, according to the Lookout News, via LA Now. Now they want the ban to include some apartment and condo unit patios and balconies since "the smoke is pulled into neighboring units because of the difference in air pressure." In essence, this idea would make complexes have smoking and non-smoking sections. It's like a restaurant, back in the day. A Calabasas law that will go into affect in 2012 will designate 80% of units as non-smoking, notes the Santa Monica Daily Press.
LAPD Saves 382 Pot Plants After FD Squelches Studio City Patio Fire
LAFD responded to a fire in the 3200 block of Dos Palos Drive in Studio City Sunday morning. The blaze was confined to the patio of the residence but upon entering the home, firefighters saw what appeared to be weed.
