Portion of Lake Hollywood Reservoir Walking/Jogging Path to Reopen Tomorrow
The brutal drenching Southern California took back in 2005 shut down a good deal of recreational space around Los Angeles. An LAist favorite included the trail Henniger Flats in Altadena, but more locally was the loss of the Lake Hollywood Reservoir
New LA River Bicycle Path to Break Ground on Monday
On Monday, crews will begin construction on the LA River bike path, extending it further south towards downtown. The 2.5 mile stretch will go from Fletcher Drive to Barclay Street over an asphalt easement previously owned by the Army Corps of Engineers. The current path, running from the northern end of Griffith Park to Fletcher Drive is about 4.25 miles. The project is expected to take 6 to 7 months based on preliminary reports.
Orange Line Bike Path Cleaned Up for Now
Today, over 20 people from various city departments, nonprofits and volunteer groups met to find a long-term solution to keeping the Orange Line bicycle in path in Van Nuys clear of transients and landscaping from growing onto the path. LAist first reported on the dire conditions of the bike path to which the Daily News picked up on.
Silver Lake Reservoir Jogging Path Set to Open
Get ready Silver Lake residents. That nice dirt jogging/walking path around the reservoir is set to officially open this Saturday morning. But that doesn't mean people aren't using it already. This certainty should be a good addition to places to train for the Los Angeles Marathon, which will take place on, of all days, Memorial Day.
Problems Persist on Ballona Creek Bike Path

Curbed LA is reporting that Silver Lake Meadow will open as a park, likely this summer.
The compromised plan opens a portion of the meadow--three and half acres--to the public, while the remainder of the meadow, another three acres, will be reserved for wildlife and native plants: coyotes, blue herons, gnats, ladybugs, etc. The whole opening/not fully opening of the meadow has been a touchy subject for some Silver Lake residents, who worry hordes of visitors will descend to this relatively quiet area. [Curbed LA]Addressing those concerns, the city is looking into putting a signalized crosswalk on Silver Lake Blvd. and deciding on the public hours of use and rules.
Biking the Orange Line
It is a shame that it took us a year and some months after the Orange Line's opening to bike it from end to end. So we braved the chilly weather today and did it. We even did it from the Clybourn St. Burbank border on the Chandler Bike Path that connects to the City of Burbank's 4-mile bike path. One way, the Orange Line ride is 14 miles (add 1.2 miles for the...
