TV Junkie: Starz Drops 'Party Down'

TV Junkie: Starz Drops 'Party Down'

It's with more than a bit of sadness that we note that Starz has opted to not renew its comedy "Party Down". We know that we'll soon see the very talented cast members in other shows, particularly Adam Scott and (the beautiful) Lizzy Caplan (remember her awesome turn in "True Blood" a couple years back?). But this doesn't mitigate the loss of a show that had such great humor about what is a very real experience for a lot of people in LA - surviving as a creative person while trying to "make" it. We personally know 4 people whose existence is similar to the characters of the Party Down catering team. more ›

TV Junkie: Time to 'Party Down'; 'You Don't Know Jack' is Saturday's Pick

Weekend Edition Some great things are happening on TV this weekend, namely the return of "Party Down" to Starz tonight - we've seen the first 1/2 dozen episodes and it's a lot of fun - the addition of Megan Mullally, which we initially feared, is actually fantastic! Tomorrow marks the premiere of HBO's film, You Don't Know Jack, with Al Pacino portraying Jack "Dr. Death" Kevorkian, and it's an incredible film... more ›

LAist Interview: Adam Scott

Adam Scott is one of those actors that you always recognize but can't always quite place. He's worked all over film and television for the last fifteen years, but it's only in the last few that people have started to put name to face. For me, he's as good a working actor as we have right now. His breakout role in Step Brothers -- where he repeatedly stole the movie out from under Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly -- was the funniest supporting turn in recent memory (see here and here for proof). His latest film, The Vicious Kind, just opened in limited release. LAist recently had a chance to speak with him. more ›

TV Junkie: 'Battlestar Galactica' - Vaya Con Dios

TV Junkie: 'Battlestar Galactica' - Vaya Con Dios

Tonight marks the end of "Battlestar Galactica", for about 20 years until the geeks of the future resurrect it like they did the now-campy 1970s version. Some have complained that this final season swung the show onto a science-fiction track that was too science-fiction-y but the show had to return to its roots, its core, before wandering off into the cosmos. more ›
