Parks and Rec Throws Out Another Figure For Occupy L.A.'s Cost to City Hall Grounds
If there's one department that's worried about the Occupy L.A. encampment, it's the city's Recreation and Parks Department.
The department released its third estimate of how occupiers are wreaking havoc on the lawn, shrubbery and sprinkler-heads around City Hall.

City Layoffs Start Today: Library, Childcare, Park, & Clerical Workers
Hundreds of City of Los Angeles employees will be laid off or subject to furloughs as of today, thanks to the start of "an austerity budget" that starts with today's fiscal year, according to the Daily News.
Summer Starts With a Splash: 33 City Pools to Open Saturday
The City of L.A.'s 33 seasonal pools will open for the summer on Saturday afternoon.
Despite budgetary woes, the price for a swim remains the same as last year: $2.50 for adults (18-64), which drops to $2 if you've got a City library card. Kids 17-under, seniors 65+, and the disabled can swim for free.
TV Junkie: All New Eps on NBC Tonight; Cable Earnings Scary Strong
We're getting both barrels from NBC tonight as all their primetime comedy shows have new episodes this evening. Granted, if "The Office" or "30 Rock" seem less than stellar we'll have no problems shifting over to watch "Fringe" on Fox but it will be difficult not to do some switching back and forth. NBC will also be tempting us back as they will have the irrepressible Sarah Silverman on "The Marriage Ref".

Last Weekend to Chill Out at Most City Swimming Pools
It seems like just yesterday we were prepping to dive into the deep end of Summer 2009, and now with Labor Day Weekend upon us it looks like it's time for us to start coming in from the water. Well, that's the case for most City of L.A. Public Swimming pools, as all but seven city seasonal aquatic facilities will close on Labor Day. You can get your swims in this afternoon until 5, Sunday from 1-5, and Monday from 1-5 if you're in need of a cool down and find yourself without a pool to dip your toes in.
