Hundreds of City of Los Angeles employees will be laid off or subject to furloughs as of today, thanks to the start of "an austerity budget" that starts with today's fiscal year, according to the Daily News. more ›

The City of L.A.'s 33 seasonal pools will open for the summer on Saturday afternoon. Despite budgetary woes, the price for a swim remains the same as last year: $2.50 for adults (18-64), which drops to $2 if you've got a City library card. Kids 17-under, seniors 65+, and the disabled can swim for free. more ›

We're getting both barrels from NBC tonight as all their primetime comedy shows have new episodes this evening. Granted, if "The Office" or "30 Rock" seem less than stellar we'll have no problems shifting over to watch "Fringe" on Fox but it will be difficult not to do some switching back and forth.
