Weekend Movie Guide: If It's Halloween, It Must Be Saw!

For better or worse, Saw is the defining horror franchise of the oughts. Along with Eli Roth's Hostel films, it forged the horror sub-genre "torture porn", and put the gross in "box office grosses". Saw 3D, the seventh film in seven years, aims to revive the Jigsaw juggernaut one more time, closing the series in bloody extravagance. Unsurprisingly, Saw 3D is critic-proof. Jennifer's Body should have just been called Megan's Tits. Hey Glee fans -- we get it. You like the show. Modern Family is still much funnier. Accept it. The Swimmer's Nude Massage? WTF? more ›

'Paranormal Activity' Most Profitable Film Ever

Low budget plus scary story telling has proved itself again. Following in the footsteps of The Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity is now the highest grossing films ever with a 433,900 percent return on investment (the film cost $15,000 to make), according to The Wrap. Last weekend, its fifth in theatres, it was number one in the box office. more ›
