Sure, last week was Mardi Gras, and many people plated up a pile of pancakes for a Tuesday meal, but the party is tomorrow at the International House of Pancakes. They're celebrating National Pancake Day on Tuesday, February 28, 2012. What this means to you: FREE PANCAKES.

Flip It Good: White Guy Raps While Making Pancakes
He's Mac Lethal and he's not afraid of taking on the insanely fast rapping pace of "Look at Me Now." And he makes a pretty impressive stack of pancakes while he's at it, too. "Cook with me now, uh, cook with me now." Solid.
How To Get Free Pancakes Tomorrow
Shrove Tuesday is March 8th, and while that's usually the weekday on which we make room for a plate full of pancakes, the International House of Pancakes is partying down a week earlier, and is running their National Pancake Day celebration on Tuesday, March 1st. What this means to you: Free Pancakes.
Alien Mythology, a Pile of 2,000 Pancakes & More in an Art Installation at Soho House
You may know Swedish director Andreas Nilsson's work from music videos for Moby, Miike Snow, MGMT and Royksopp (plus the upcoming Yeasayer one featuring Kristen Bell), but his roots are in painting and sculpture. Last night at the private members-only Soho House in West Hollywood, he took over a couple of rooms with Furlined and Flux to install a tribute to backwoods mythology.
Bea Bea's: Who's Down for Oreo Pancakes?
Burbank is rife with coffee shops, yet somehow good food manages to elude them. At least Frank's makes real milkshakes from real ice cream, but I'm still pissed off that the attached motel tore down the zigzag Googie roof. And don't even get me started on the Coral Cafe and Lancers, where the customers all look like Ralph Steadman drawings.
Happy Pancake Month, or Something LIke That
Every day is some random-ass holiday, whether it be the awesome Talk Like a Pirate Day or Hug a Vegetarian Day. Apparently, this month is National Pancake Month. Wait, maybe it's just the last week of February. Or is it Valentine's Day Week? What about the 23rd, claimed as IHOP National Pancake Day?
Rilakkuma and the Buttermilk Truck at JapanLA on Saturday
The adorable Japanese pop culture icon Rilakkuma (Relaxed Bear) is going to make his first U.S. appearance at JapanLA this Saturday night. Simply Wrong Food: IHOP's Holiday Pancakes
At first glance, you can tell these pancakes are trouble. The profusion of whipped cream and holiday colors make you want to cringe. Let the flavors alone be a warning: Egg Nog, Gingerbread, Pumpkin and Pecan Pie.
A Buttermilk Truck Sneak Peek: Red Velvet Pancakes, Hawaiian Bread French Toast & More...
For past week or so, the people behind the Buttermilk Truck have been sneaking around town, previewing its food to whoever came upon it. Although the truck officially debuts Wednesday evening with its late-night menu (think fried chicken and waffles and the Buttermilk Brick--hash browns, eggs over easy, buttermilk biscuit and a housemade chorizo gravy), the truck arrived for a not-so-secret sneak peek of its morning menu at yesterday's Silver Lake Art Craw event at Barnsdall Art Park.
LAist Interview: Artie Lange
Telling a story is not easy, especially when the stories are emotional, outrageous and true. Comedian, actor and member of the Howard Stern Show cast, Artie Lange, however, has made a living telling the stories of his life on the air and on stage. Finally, those stories that have made the Stern Nation laugh since joining the show in 2001, along with several other painfully true moments from Lange's life can be found in Too Fat to Fish.
Eye Nosh: Serious Sunday Breakfasting
Ohhhhh... Sunday breakfast! It can be late but great, big and (probably) bad for you. But, ohhhh! Yeah. Mmmmm. This plate of big-time breakfast goodness comes from LAist Featured Photos contributor kristi.nicole, who gives us the lowdown (and a server shout-out!):
We've been going to Basix Cafe in West Hollywood regularly for over 3 years. Their apple pancakes with caramel syrup [pictured] are addicting. They also make a killer Chilaquiles. Above all this, they have some of the best service I've ever had in this fair city. Especially our favorite waiter, James!Hello, apple pancakes with caramel syrup? Yum!
Wake Up LA: CJ's Pantry
While most restaurants forgo the use of totem pole style mascots, CJ's Pantry wheels out this weird creepy statue man to guard the breakfast goers from evil spirits, and to insure that you won't soon forget where you ate those awesome semi-crunchy pancakes, and that crunchy-as-hell bacon.

Truly Vegan
As a vegan, I enjoy and prefer making my own meals. I never have to worry about what someone is putting into my food, not to mention it’s easier, cheaper, and more interesting than dining out. But when 80% of my waking hours are spent outside my home, biking around the city, I need to have options. I can only fit so much fruit in my backpack. So, I’ve begun building a mental index of...
Don't go to the Bloom Cafe!
I’m a little hesitant to tell you guys about Bloom Café. Brunching is not a leisure activity in this town. The idea of brunch is always calm, meeting up on a weekend, yummy breakfast, savory lunch foods. Coffee, laughter, companionship. But the reality is lines and waiting, grumpy stomachs, languishing hangovers. It’s not pretty out there. At the Bloom Café, you can remember what brunch is really about. The clientele at this Picfair location...
