Is Mark Zuckerberg getting into the business of steel-toe boot manufacturing? I am not sure how roomy the offices in Palo Alto, California are but surely there isn't enough room to create a manufacturing plant for these boots. The reason I bring up such a topic, is that apparently Facebook is dishing out a zero-tolerance policy (of "sudden-deathing" one's account) guilty of things amongst: Ixnay on the not using one's real name, joining too......

Last week The Donnas held their record release party at the Viper Room to celebrate their new collection of rock, Bitchin', the first release on their own label, Purple Feather. Opening the mostly all-female Viper Room lineup was Girl in a Coma, followed by our new loves, The Randies. But the night belonged to The Donnas who were all charged up and ready to rock - perhaps more than the audience - and demanded......

When Tribune Corp was met with two similar offers for its media conglomerate that includes the LA Times, the Chicago-based company decided that it felt better selling to a fellow Chicagoian, real estate billionaire Sam Zell than to a group of billionaires living here in LA. Although Zell will be ponying up just $300 million of the $8.2 billion deal, he will be calling the shots. And on his radar, incredibly is Google, and......

From 6p-8p, FreeFM's morning radio cellar-dweller Adam Carolla will MC the party that will star Dodger greats like Ron Cey, Steve Garvey, and Tommy Lasorda.......

Our "20 Under 30" interview series with the coolest Angelenos under 30 continues (don't despair, we're almost done) with an interview with Jack Cate. A third party nominated Jack with this description: "Why they're cool: Jack's developing embedded electronic systems, handling IT for an international firm, and being a father to 3 kids. He's just 28 years old and on the fast track. He's been on the cover of MSI Magazine and speaks around......

Houstonist reports on cross-dressing thieves and undressing educators this week. A Peeping Tom defends himself with a papaya and an outraged onlooker asks Ken Lay, "TATER TOTS OR FRIES?" Also, FEMA wants it's money back. LAist are a big bunch of geeks. We're Star Trek geeks, David Duchovny geeks and Frank Gehry geeks. During their Coachella preview our readers reveal themselves to be Depeche Mode geeks. Seattlest saw their basketball team preparing to leave for......

The easiest way to decsribe BarCamp is to say it like they do: BarCamp ad-hoc un-conference born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from attendees. And it's overnight, like camp! It's coming up in LA, on March 4-5. The whole local version is being brought to us by Sean Bonner of Blogging.la, Little Radio and a couple......

We heard it through the grapevine - actually, through Neil Gaiman's weblog - and we're just about to lose our minds. Kepler's Books in Menlo Park, the famous South Bay independent bookstore, has closed its doors after 50 years. The Palo Alto Online News reports that City Hall officials were aware that the owner, Clark Kepler, was struggling with high rents in the wealthy area. Menlo Park is in between Atherton, one of the......
