Tonight is the night to break out that special bottle of vino and head over to one of more than 20 LA-area restaurants that are obliterating the corkage fee in honor of "Open That Bottle Night."

Last month, I sent a question to all the other writers about late-night dining options in Downtown. There was a lot to be said about The Pantry last week, but today we continue with other options. The following is taken from a casual conversation from the LAist back channels.

One of our favorite local food blogs is Eating LA, which is helmed by Pat Saperstein, a senior editor at Variety. LAist asked her to put together her own Best of 2006, which she has so kindly shared with us; we can't help but notice that she likes pork and--if we may interpret--dislikes the deluge of Pinkberry frozen yogurt shops. LA is paradise for those of us who love to dine out. There are amazing high-end restaurants, from Yamashiro to Spago to Pinot Hollywood. There are old LA institutions, like Pacific Dining Car, the Pantry, and Taix. Then there are the landmarks, like Pink’s, Tail O’ the Pup, and Lucy’s El Adobe.
