Authorities from multiple agencies banded together to bust 28 suspects thought to be affiliated with a prolific South Bay Tagging Crew. Those suspects are thought to be involved in ASC, or "Art Sex Crime," a crew tied to about $100,000 in damage to the Metro Green Line and local school property, according to the Daily Breeze. Two police officers from the Hawthorne and El Segundo police departments collided with each other while riding motorcycles and accompanying a funeral procession for another officer who recently lost his battle with cancer, reports the Sacramento Bee. After the officers crashed into one another, the officer from Hawthorne was thrown into oncoming traffic, where he collided with a sedan head-on. The driver of that vehicle wasn't hurt. more ›

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa's goal of 10,000 officers on the force is nearing reality, reports the Daily News. Although the LAPD's website states there are 10,004 sworn officers, officials are not celebrating yet. That's because veteran officers are retiring at a rate of 40 a month.
