LA-based indie rock troubadour Nico Stai is poised to grace Spaceland. And, lastly, San Franciscan alt-rockers Birds & Batteries will be taking on the American Legion Post 206. But we strongly suggest heading over to Siren Studio to catch Kansas City-bred Grammy Award-nominated pop singer-songwriter Janelle Monae. LAist favorites, afro-centric indie pop act Fool's Gold are slated to kick things off.

Tonight New Zealand-bred electro pop singer-songwriter Ladyhawke is poised to grace the Avalon with Seattle's own electro pop sensation Natalie Portman's Shaved Head. NY/LA-based folk troubadours Elvis Perkins in Dearland (LAist Interview) are poised to headline the Troubadour with North Dakota-based singer-songwriter Tom Brosseau and Echo Park-bred folk pop act Correatown in tow. And, lastly, local indie rockers You Me & Iowa will be gracing Spaceland with Radars to the Sky. But we strongly suggest heading over to Eagle Rock to catch forty some-odd—including No Age (LAist Review, #2), The Happy Hollows, Peanut Butter Wolf, Nico Stai, The French Semester, Amateurs, Dusty Rhodes and the River Band, Blank Blue, Pocahaunted, Bobb Bruno, The Gaslamp Killer, Julia Holter, Jail Weddings, Free Moral Agents, Fol Chen (Canceled!) and Leslie and the Badgers, among many, many others. Head on over to the Verdugo Bar in neighboring Glassell Park for one of many promising after-parties!

Tonight Berkeley-bred rock singer-songwriter John Fogerty, best known for his time with Creedence Clearwater Revival, will be taking on a three-night stint at the Hollywood Bowl. The Echo & Echoplex will be hosting a benefit for booker extraordinaire Jennifer Tefft, which features She Wants Revenge, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (Canceled!), Great Northern, Dead Meadow, LA Ladies Choir, Rocco Deluca, Nico Stai, Useless Keys and Living Things. And, lastly, San Franciscan psych rockers Citay are poised to grace the Silver Lake Lounge. But we strongly suggest heading over to the UCLA Hammer Museum to catch the first night of the summer concert series 'Also I Like To Rock.' LAist favorites Amazing Baby are slated to rock, as well as Band of Skulls.

Australian rock outfit Youth Group (LAist Interview) are poised to headline the Troubadour with locals Nico Stai and Useless Keys in tow. And, lastly, LA-based indie rock duo Avi Buffalo (LAist Interview) will be taking on the penultimate night of their month-long residency at the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Hollywood Palladium to catch Portland-based indie rock maestros the Decemberists. Stillwater, Oklahoma's Other Lives are slated to kick things off.

Local jazz-infused pop duo Alex & Sam (LAist Interview, Review) are poised to grace the Hotel Café. And, lastly, Echo Park-bred quartet Wait. Think. Fast. will be headlining the Echo. But we strongly suggest heading over to the Viper Room to catch the bluesy rock duo Rumspringa (LAist Review, #2). The equally rollicking duo Restavrant is slated to kick things off.

But we strongly suggest heading over to the House of Blues Sunset to catch Oakland-bred retro-soul singer Raphael Saadiq.

Tonight Tijuana-based electronic ensemble Nortec Collective will be performing their Grammy-nominated Bostich + Fussible material at the Echoplex. LAist favorites Gangi (LAist Review) are slated to headline an eclectic bill of talented locals, including electronic mastermind Daedelus and the Gaslamp Killer, at Spaceland. And, speaking of Spaceland, Pershing Square and its ice rink will be taken over by local indie rockers wait.think.fast. for Spaceland on Ice. The Watkins Family are poised to put on their unforgettable Family Hour at Largo at the Coronet. And, lastly, LA buzz band Nico Stai will be rocking out at 3 Clubs. But we strongly recommend showing up at La Cita to catch one of Brooklyn's finest electro acts, Free Blood. You'll surely regret missing their lively performance if you don't make it out!

                      

Last Monday, local indie band The Movies (MySpace) continued their month-long residency at Spaceland (MySpace) in Silver Lake, with support from Sarah Negahdari and The Sad Solids (the acoustic version of The Happy Hollows), Rademacher (MySpace), and Vibe Slayer (MySpace). It was also a release party for The Movies' new album , and what a party it was.
