LA Angels (17-11) over Oakland A's (17-11) 2-0. While a lot has been said about Brandon Webb, Jake Peavy and Chien-Ming Wang, Joe Saunders (5-0) has been lights out with little fanfare. Saunders pitched an eight-inning shutout giving up four hits and five strikeouts. Francisco Rodriguez notched a league-high 11th save despite walking the lead-off man Mark Ellis and the Big Hurt. LA Lakers defeat Denver Nuggets 122-107. Kobe Bryant showed his MVP colors scoring 49 points to go along with 10 assists. Despite that, the Lakers are starting to play with fire. With a defense as porous as a sieve and complacency of taking bad perimeter shots against a weak zone, the Lakers got away with one. True the Lakers got the win, but it should have been a more dominant showing. It didn't help......

Surprising nobody, USC's All-American wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett announced that he will forgo his final year of eligibility and enter the NFL Draft. The NFL Draft produced the usual drama and surprises. Starting with the fall of Reggie Bush to number two after the announcement by the Houston Texans that they signed North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams to a 6 year $54 million deal...jeez. For the first time in over a decade, the Lakers took part in the NBA Draft Lottery. While the ping pong balls didn't bounce LA's way, not all was lost.
